First pics of my COMAND retrofit!!
Almost a plug and play application. Very little effort was done by MBenzNL (Steve) edit: because he knew what he was doing.

The 203 Command system is 1000USD; the OEM MB 203 GPS Antenna is about 65USD
and can be installed under the dash (mercedes's own personal suggestion when
after market adding OEM MB navigation systems). You need some GPS cables
parts as well (approx 40USD)

According to MB regarding aftermarket comand retrofit, they recommend mounting the antenna under the dash. You could also utilize your Teleaid antenna and use a splitter but it's simply more work. MB recommends this so that's how my antenna was installed.
Euro version comands:
All of the funtions work very well. Euro comands will not have Teleaid assist regarding traffic info and such. Instead they have a button called SYS, which is used for setting time and brightness and such.
Euro comands has a TV button funtion where you could attach a TV tuner or DVD players and such.
The female voice that speaks has an English accent!
RDS works very well. In some stations it lets you know what song is playing and the artist who's singing it both in your instrument cluster and the comand interface. The Kost 103.5, I even get the Stock Market info until they close, very cool
Steve has several more in stock along with all the connectors and antenna required, they are going really fast.
I am working on editing the step by step instructions for you all with pictures.

My recollection - based on someone's report - is that US COMAND units offer no improvement in sound quality compared to the stock US cassette stereo (Audio 30). I wonder if the sound part of Euro COMAND is on par with Audio 10... Anyone?

I wouldn't dump the standard Bose unit for the Audio 10, which is a downright ugly unit with not much to offer besides slightly more bass and the single in dash disc player, but damn, that COMAND system is slick. Didn't someone post a few weeks back that on the European units you can get broadcast TV with an adaptor? That would be slick...no more missing football on Sundays driving back from out of town

My question was whether the Euro COMAND unit is better than the US COMAND as far as its sound is concerned (or, is the difference as big as in case of Audio 10 compared to Audio 30).
A side note: it's called "COMAND", not "Command".
