no boost, limp mode?
on occassion my car appears to go into some kind of limp mode. if i restart the car it is fine so far. anyway, if this occurs i'll get a little boost with 1/8th throttle. however, any further on the throttle and there is no boost.

limp mode is just a term thrown around on the audi forums when the ecu diverts the boost from the engine; you're not getting any boost. maybe it is an official term, maybe not. however, the situation is applying to my c230 as stated in the first post.

And when I use the term "limp mode", I refer to the transmission safe mode where the electronic shifting is inop. I'm not talking about boost. My C240 has no turbo, no boost.

I had something like that happen.
The....don't know what it's called, but it's a valve that control the
flow from the SC. Mine got stuck from sticky oil in ITG filter.
Felt like it had no power.
Same effect can be had from thne intercooler hose coming loose, or
the gasket between the oil catch thing and the throttle body

c230 sport coup, i think it is the diverter valve you're talking about getting stuck due to the itg filter. it diverts boost away from the engine when it is not needed to improve gas mileage. it is definately a possibility, but i don't think restarting my vehicle would alleviate this issue. however, i'm definitely not going to cross it off my list.
