Battery!

My 05 C230 has started to stutter and have a very rough idle. It started after the dealer had closed today so I left a message for my service adviser to call me at work to get it in asap. The gas tank is half way through and this hasn't happened before (not sure if it's gas related). Car says Service A due in 200 miles and it wasn't until I took it for another spin tonight that the check engine light went on. Any thoughts on what this could be?

Do a search in this forum on 'pcv hose', and also see the very recent thread on 'm271 owners go to the dealer no free work'. That would be my guess ...

Yes, that's probably it or it could also be the leaking cam sensor issue or worst case, the exhaust valve issue that requires a head replacement.

take it to the dealer, have them replace the $12 hose, it's a recall GO GO !! lol

this happened to me over 2 years ago. the car would shudder and the CEL light was on and it would stall if you didn't give it enough gas. well, I took it to the dealer and they said that all it needed was an ECU reset and they updated the software. 30k miles later, it's never happened again.

This happened to me last year. Needed a new MAF sensor (DIY) and catalytic converters replaced (emissions warranty).

Same thing started happening to me. It turned out to be the spark plug wires. A while back I had the spark plugs replaced becuase it was time for that but the spark plug wires were left alone and had become corroded around the ends. Replaced them in the garage and all is well. MB wanted too much for install just got the wires at cost through a mechanic friend. Not to much hassle to install.

I had a similar experience... its probably your wires..

I experienced a similar issue and they ended up replacing the alternator around 45k. In addition to the check engine light, I also received an alternator error message in the info display when this happened, so it is likely a different issue if you didn't receive the secondary error message.

I'm having the same problem in my c32. It's probably time to change the spark plugs and wires, but I'm not due for that service for another 8k miles. The bad thing is that I have no check engine light.
