So here's my final list on the C230 I'm ordering:

Orion Blue Metallic
Automatic Trans
C5 Premium (Panorama, Bose, Leather)
C7 (Wheels, etc)
COMAND (w/ in dash Cd, nav, etc)

I weasled my way a quote of 30K for all this from a local dealer thanks to persistance and insistant nagging Now there's a couple options that I'm debating that you might me able to tell me the value (or lack thereof) of. I got these straight out of the "create your own" on the Mercedes Web Page.

#1 Eventually, I'm going to get the Cell Phone w/ Voice package because im a tech junky and I love the integration into the COMAND system. But for now, they have an option called VOICE CONTROL (it's only $580) and it says "Just tap the stalk on the steering column and talk normally. You can make calls and select your favorite music without ever taking your hands off the steering wheel." Obviously for right now, I wont be using the Cell Phone feature, but how does Voice Control work for music selection? Is this worth the money? Somebody please give me a detailed explanation as to the use of this voice control for control of the audio systems.

#2 Illuminated Door Sills, It's available in Blue, which matches my Orion Blue, it's $399, and it looks pretty damn cool! "A unique way to personalize your C-Class. The name "Mercedes-Benz" illuminates in color in the stainless steel door sill each time you open the door. Available for front door sills only with a choice of Blue, Green or Yellow illumination." anybody have this? opinions?

FYI - I have seen the Illuminated Door Sills for ~ $200 on ebay. I can't imagine that they are hard to install.

 

C5 and C7 are excellent values.....
Comand looks like a great idea, but you'll need the CD changer to play CD's while using the Comand mapping features. (A lot of people, including me, got the CD Changer for free as a negotiating point)

Orion Blue? Don't do it. It's so ugly!! Capri Blue is SO much nicer!! :p

You gotta give up your strategy of nagging and persistance in order to get C5, C7, Changer AND COMMAND, for only 30K. You must have saved at least $2,500 or maybe even more. Up in Norcal, they would have laughed in my face and booted me out of the dealership if I made an offer like that. You probably had a gun to their head. Just kidding. But tell me your secrets!!

 

That's a fantastic deal! Congratulations. Must be the color choice, that Orion Blue is just dropping in value like flies. Just TRY to get the same deal on a rare Magma Red.

P.S. For those who haven't been on this board that long, I am being sarcastic.

Hmm Yes if it were Magma Red the dealer probably charge you MSRP so it must be the color sucks as everyone has it on their c230

To use the voice control to change the radio station, you first tap the stalk towards you. The audio will mute and you'll hear a "beep". Then say the radio station you want, for example, "One-oh-three-five" (103.5). It will change to that station. Very easy to use.

30,000 would be about $1,000 below dealer cost (assuming $200 or so for regional adv). Dealer Holdback would be $972.60 (32,420 x 3%). The dealer is selling the car for ZERO profit dollars????!!!!!?????!!!!!

Was it in N Calif? Or was it the infamous Laguna Niguel?
