experience with alpine interface

hi there,

i am considering to change my HU to an alpine CDR 7893
there is an interface converter which enables the usage of the wheel controls with the HU.
anybody who has experience with it?
also enables the usage of the display?

Nope none.

If you are getting a head unit. You have to change the amp, and all the speakers since they are optical

I called up a local place and they were familiar with such an interface. However they told me it won't be available till a month later. Give the local Alpine shops a ring and see what they say now.

There are no such things as optical speakers. Since they are electomagnetic devices they must be connected to an amp by wire.

i have got the Audio 10 HU and no amp (it is only included in the bose package), the speakers are connected with normal copper wire

optical:
the optical cables run from the HU to the amp and to the changer. since i have none of them, i do not have optical cables at all.

anyway the interface is available here, so if anybody needs it, i can get one. it is approx. $160 + shipping

Erik, is the amp connected to the headunit by fiber optic cable or copper wire?

it is possible, if you have the bose pack, and you do not want to use the bose amp, it is pretty simple get the new HU and amps and install it or get it installed by a professional

othervise i do not know too much about the bose amp, but i have a mazda rx7 with bose and that system is a pain in the *** to upgrade... so my advice to change the bose amp
