Same with my front HRE's. As a matter of fact they are in the wheel shop right now. I hope to pick them up this week. It's the risk I've taken using 19" wheels

Just spend the money and get them fixed right away, if not they will be completely out of balance!

Sorry to hear about the mishap, but if you've got a 2" dent in the rim it might not be safe if it affects the bead. You might want to have it checked anyway by someone you trust to give you an honest opinion. You don't want a blowout at high speeds etc... Just a thought...

Yeah he is right. There is a possibilty of a blow out.Since air can leak out also.

Maybe you can get the state to pay for it. I have heard people that have done this

You should post a PIC that would help. Also you can try this, take you car in for service, hopefully they might not see the dent in the wheel. Then When its finished go outside and fake it act like they dented your wheel. ***** and moan and it might work. you never know:p :p

No, don't do that. Take responsibility for your actions, even though you really didn't cause it. Some people must really hate their dealers. What if you were running a business and people did this to you?

If the dent is severe enough to affect the balance of the wheel, leaving it could ruin the tire over time due to the unbalanced wheel. You drive a Mercedes-Benz, surely you can afford $100-$200 to fix the wheel. Think of your safety! If something were to happen you would regret not doing it.

Good luck

Thanks, it's not that i can't afford it. It's that i just bought brand new tires and i just got my car back. The dent doesn't seem to have any effect on ride or anything... just cosmetic... however, i'll have it looked at by a dealer just in case.

The "bead" is the area of the wheel which seals against the tire. If this area is bent or otherwise damaged, it can weaken the air seal which can be dangerous if the tire should deflate during cornering or high speed maneuvers.

bead (n) - A strip of material with one molded edge placed flush against the inner part of a window or door (in this case, a tire)...

BTW, I think your dealer would help you determine if there's a problem or if it's just cosmetic. I only said this because of the way you mentioned it was dented -- maybe there's no problem.

A 2 inch dent is pretty major...its amazing you didn't buckle the rim...another good reason not to get 19" wheels!
