Creaking sound from rear driver's side suspension I think?

I have tried searching here for similar problems but didn't really find anything so figured I would ask you guys.

I have a 2005 C Sport and I just installed 18"x9.5" wheels on the back (8.5" in the front but thats irrelevant in this problem).

I am not sure if that has something to do with it but a few days after changing to the bigger wheel I have started hearing some kind of creaking type sound from the suspension when I go over bumps. I don't hear anything on normal smooth driving and nothing at all when the windows are up but when my window is down and I hit a bump or the car rocks enough you can hear it.

Any ideas what it might be? Its for sure coming from only the rear driver's side. I never noticed it before going with the bigger wheel but don't see how the wheel could be causing it. And I don't hear anything at all from the passenger side.

Everything else in my car is stock with the sports suspension and breaks of course. Thats about all the details I can give right now. I am wondering if its serious or something that I might be able to fix myself. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

could you define "creaking" a little better. creaking to me is a metal on metal sound- but i don't see how something like that could come from a rear wheel/tire swap. could it be that you are hearing the tire rubbing the fender? i would describe that as more of a squeak than a creak- something to look into though.

Yeah to me it doesn't sound like tire rubbing. It sounds like metal. Kinda like old bed springs might sound or something like that. Sometimes its worse than others.

I also don't see it being from the tire/wheel change but thats just when I started hearing it.

Parking brake.

Mine would creak from the rear driver's side all the time when I got in/out of the car, yet since I never get in/out of the passenger side I never noticed it creaks on that side too.

Don't know if anyone is interested any more in this but since I found the reason I figured I would post it here for others with the same problem.

Turns out it was the bearings in the rear left axle that have gone bad. Sorry I can't give more details than that. I am American, but live in Finland. And my Finnish was good enough to understand that much.

Well soon its fixed and hopefully the sound is gone. It has been embarrassing hitting bumps and driving by people and them looking strange when they hear your car creaking and making funny noises.

How did you fix it? It's a parking brake issue?

Mine wasn't a parking brake issue. I know your question was stated to the other person but it seems she is banned.

I had told the mechanic that I suspected the park brake and he said it could be but when it came down to it, it wasn't. Cost me 190€ to fix

Very simple to test this...don't use the parking brake. Get in and out of car - no squeaking. Apply parking brake - get in and out of car and it will squeak. Mine does this and it's super annoying. I was told there is no fix for this BS.
