Just installed Vision Plus

Finally got the Vision Plus bulbs from Autolamps.com....had to wait a bit, since I was out of town. Installation was fairly easy as everyone else has mentioned. The driver's side is somewhat awkward - seemed harder to get the securing pin unlocked - just a weird angle to get at it.
Illumination is somewhat brighter, just from what I can see inside the garage - have not taken the car out yet. I dont know if it is any more significant though.

FYI - MB factory bulbs: made by Phillips H7 12V 55W 12972 DOT
- Vision Plus bulbs: Phillips H7 12V 55W 12972 VP

Seems like essentially the same bulb. Although Phillips claim 50% more light and 10-20 metres longer beam. We'll see if there is any real differences. Anything will help - since I am not getting Xenons any time soon. Saving for Comand Unit.

After driving to work this morning, the Vision Plus do put out more light. The light is somewhat brighter and the beam is broader and longer. The area around where I live does not have alot of street lights, so it is more noticeable. I thought about the rallye bulbs, but it was after I had already ordered the Vision Plus ones. These are good for what I need at this time.

Where did you get them, and how much did they cost? I've been wanting a little more light from the Coupe, but don't want to spend the $$$ on Xenons.

They are a much better bulb compared to the stock H7 (which is not so bad either - most automakers use them as OEM nowadays - MB, BMW, Audi etc.). You can easily see how much better they are by driving next to another car on a highway - yours will produce brighter and wider blobs of light.

I got the Phillips Vision Plus from autolamps-online.com. They are located in England. They are $40/pair with free shipping. Took about 7-10 days to arrive. Comes certified mail in a cushioned envelope - kind of cheesy, but no broken bulbs.

If you are looking for even more light, then the rallye bulbs may be what you are looking for.

what type of car was it. Audi and BMW can both look purple. Acura and Honda's bulbs also have a purple look to them. Or they could have had a aftermarket xenon kit in it, 7000K+.

According to WHOIS, fosmolamps.com is available, so I assume they're out of business.

I found them on Powerbulbs.com (which may be the same company) for 30 pounds sterling for the pair (about $47.50 US, shipping included).

Purple -> Audi Acura Honda
Blue -> BMW
White -> Benz

You can get them for your ride. Just install them. No big deal I think they run around 400 bones.

I am looking for replacing the High/ Low/ Fog bulbs too. Some of you guys recommend the Philips Ralleye. I've looked at it at the Powerbulbs.com. They are 80W for the High/ Low beam, and 70W for the Fog. Will it cause any trouble like overheating, etc, while the stock ones are just 55W? How do the Ralleye and the Vision Plus compare to the real HID? Are they tends to be white? Again, the High/ Low beam are H7, and the Fog are 9006 right? Thanks for asking all the stupid questions.

Thanks for the info. Which Eurolight do you have, and how do you like them? It's a little bit hard to tell the difference from those pictures that are comparing with the oem bulbs. Could anyone briefly describe them? Thanks again.

do the rallye bulbs run too hot??.... any error message, or will the housing result in melting??

the reason i ask is because i had high watt bulbs in my 99 honda accord with aftermarket headlamps and they melted to the housing....

maybe the benz headlamps are able to withstand the heat??

thanks

i wouldnt so much worry about the housing as much as the socket. that's what usually melts. the housing is cooled by air when you drive, which is why they dont usually melt.

I have been running 100W bulbs for several months now, and there is no noticeable damage or melting. I should probably pull the bulb out and look around for melting anywhere in there, but they seem to be fine. Doesn't the bulb usually burn out from the heat before things start to melt?

No, the bulb itself is designed to take it. It is the plastic parts that may get deformed of heat, though, and the biggest danger is the reflector - it may get burnt. I had this happen many years ago when I tried an overwatted bulb. A thin layer of silver (or whatever metal was used) turned black over time, and although the bulb itself was still bright - there was no light on the road. It was a very good lesson. But - YMMV, I don't know how durable they are nowadays.

Hey Shtatc, How are your lights? I just ordered H7 6000K made by Phillips for my E500 W211. I'm just wondering if they are worth it. Are you satisfied with yours?
