My car is pretty much a garage queen. I only get it out once a week or every other week. Don't ask why- because I really don't know. I get this "sickness" from my dad. His '92 Vette that he bought new only has 12k miles or so, and has never seen rain.
Anyway- I spent all night last night giving my car a wash, glaze, synthetic wax, and finished up with a coat of Superior's "Slick Finish" wax. I did the wheels, cleaned the interior- the works.
A couple guys from work have been hassling me to bring the car in, since none of them have seen it since it's transformation over the past year or so. So- I drove it in today since it was freshly detailed and it was going to be a nice day. I parked in my usual spot- just outside my office window. Her headlights are looking at me- and I can swear I hear her calling my name- wanting me to go give her some attention. At this point, I am thinking of leaving at noon for a drive up the River Road- and not coming back until tomorrow. Just curious if I am the only one who's car occasionally talks to them

hehe....
yes....I hear her callling me....the siren song that makes me drive to Firebaugh and do 6 hours of labor and give someone my headlights and $500 to get Bix. (What was I thinking???)
She gets 1st place over any GF, whatever.
I'll tell my GF I'm broke while at the same time anxiously waiting to get some new part or mod. Bad bad bad....
I know more about how to care for my car than my own health.
I pay more attention to every little squeak, jerk, burble, gurgle or whatever sounds she's making, than I do myself.
I'd end up dying of a heart attack but my car would be in perfect condition.
The band "Queen" said it best in the song, "I'm in love with my car"...
"told my girl I'd have to fergit her,
rather by me a new carbaritter,
so she made tracks saying this is the end now....
cars don't talk back, they're just 4 wheeled friends now...."

Just last week- I told my girlfriend the Mercedes project was finally complete......followed by me taking it to the exhaust shop the very next day
The other day, she ran across the receipt that I had yet to file, for the wheels that arrived a couple months ago. She made me aware of the fact that, for that price I would have purchased that engagement ring we (she) has been chit-chatting about

Glad to hear she's only looking for you to spend as much as the rims, though. The ring we (she) picked out cost more than the car...but both were well worth it.

I know what you are talking about, man. I have been looking and researching the rock and ring she wants, it's quite a spending, let put it that way.

That's great, man. One thing I would not compromise on was the ring she'd wear the rest of her life. That yours has found something she likes that is reasonably priced is, well, priceless .
Congrats and happy modding!

nah- she doesn't want to take part in the picking out process. she knows that i've been around long enough to have a pretty good idea what she likes. she wants to be suprised by the entire event- both when i do it and what ring i have.
good lord- what a bunch of buzz-kills. this was a perfectly good thread about my love affair with my car, and it just had to be ruined by talk of spending good mod money on a stinkin ring

I'm waiting for the dowry before I spend a dime.
How did things get so screwed up?
What a great system.
Fathers pay us guys to take the lady's off their hands.
Might be why I've never married.
Which results in many guys calling me 'smart'.
I don't know that I'm smart, but I'm not stupid....
I came so close to dumping the new one today....
she'll never know...
my roomate/buddy who's known me for years, told me I should keep her around, so what if she's crazy?
She's fine and crazy about me.
And she loves my car which is important, AND she drives a benz.
It's like that song from Buckcherry..."she's a crazy b***............ but I'm on top of it...."
