Service B is due on Tuesday.Anything i need to know?

Hi guy's. The C230 reached it's 16K mark and is due for service B. Is there anything else i should ask them to look at? Also i have an ITG air filter in there.Should i take it out before i take it in to the service.

They are going to check out some of these problems i am having:

- The panarama sunroof not working.
- My key is not working
- ESP BAS warning all the time.
- The darn fog lights keep burning out. So far i am at 5 replacement fog light bulbs going on 6.
- The cupholder plastic slide is stuck.
- The car is pulling left.
- Lot's of rattle on the sunroof. Maybe that why it is not working.

Well good luck to me on tuesday.

PS: Any idea how much service B costs $$$$ in Canada?

For one thing, only worry about the filter if its replacement is part of B service. You wouldn't want them to take it out and throw it away to replace it with a normal one. Otherwise, they shouldn't touch it or even care that it is there.

Hopefully they can fix these problems. Don't let them just replace the fog light bulbs. There is obviously a worse problem than just the bulbs if they keep on burning out. They need to find out the real problem so that this stops happening. I'm sure the problem is not in the bulbs. Most of the other stuff is common and they should know how to fix it if they are any good.

I believe that there might be an exposed cable in your wiring harness that makes the light keeps burning out. Make them check.

You don't touch the glass on the bulb when replacing it do you? Body oil will cause the bulb to burn out.

Service B costed me $372.37 at Lone Star Mercedes in Calgary.

My ESP/BAS error is intermittent.. and they couldn't find anything wrong with it when I bought in.....

Hopefully they will have a fix for you.... I'll bring in when it occurs often enough to bother me..

Service B

My coupe goes in on Wed for Service B. I have 23900 miles. The drivers side door seal is coming loose. I had this seal replaced at Service A and it has been a growing problem ever since. The plastic hinge pin is also broken on the rear hatch cargo cover. The car has been running fine. I look forward to my E320 loaner, too bad it will be a 2002 and not the new 2003 model.

16K???

Your service B is due at 16K? I have just over 16K miles right now and it tells me that Service B is due in about 6500-7000 miles. How hard are you driving your car?!

In Canada FSS is not included in the price of the car.

yep.... my Service B was at 16,000KM too... Service A was at 8000KM. I think its programmed that way from the Factory for Canadian designated cars.... to make money for the dealers since we have to pay for these services. When I took my car in at 16,000KM for service B, the receptionist thought that I had made a mistake since Service B normally does not occur until 30,000KM+ .... so he had to go to the car and verify the Service type.

Next Service is scheduled at 30,000KM for Service A again....

I don't know what you're talking about! It's COLD here! But I guess you're right, on average it's quite a bit warmer than Canada is I'm sure. Even so, I think he was talking about 16000 KM for service B, that's what, like 10000 miles. I'm getting double the range that he's getting (a little more even). That's a big difference! Oh well!

I'll probably reach 18,000 miles before car needs Service B . It depends on your driving ..............

Lightbulb

I believe that in my case, the Service intervals are 'pre-set' and not variable as in you cars.....

Reasons:

1) when I first recieved my car, the computer indicated that Service A will be at 8000KM. When I performed Service A at 8000KM, the computer indicated that my next Service will be Service B at 16,000KM (10,000 Miles). When I picked up my car after Service B, the computer tells me that my next service will be Service A again at 30,000 KMs.

2) As for my driving habits, I think I've REDLINED the car less than 20 times since new. Travelled at speeds in excess of 200KM/hr only a 2-3 times for less than 5 mins each time. All the other times, I up-shift at between 3000-3500 rpm and I normally cruise or drive with the rpm between 2500-3000 range.

hmm.... can anyone else from Canada comment on their Service intervals..??

In the US, it's called a Flexible Service System (FSS) because the service interval depends on your driving habits and the weather. As FSS is free for 4 years/50,000 miles, it's to MB's advantage to stretch out the intervals.
Looks like in Canada, you drive less between intervals ( and pay more ).
So , will it make any difference in the long run ? Who knows ?
