voice control module

hi

is it possible to add the vcm to a 2007 c-280? i notice a black plastic covering where the stalk should be.

if its possible does it need to be version coded to be activated?

are these units universal for all mercedes models or are they model specific?

the car has no nav and only the cd player with a cd changer in the glove box plus the xfm.

thanks

W203 slightly modified
Depends on your prew-wiring.

PREWIRED: Voice module, adjust microphone connection, adjust optical Version code. Add missing stalk on steering. Check relays and fuses.

NOT PREWIRED: Same as prewired + install new wiring harness and install optical.

Must have a phone kit pre-installed to make it economical. Otherwise need to add a mirror wiring harness for microphones and maybe also a mirror with microphones if no Teleaid is installed.

Steve tried to do it on my 2005 c230, it wouldn't work and I have the OEM phone setup. It may work with a NAV unit, but I can safely say it won't work with Audio 20.

i was toying with the idea of getting the mcsII put in last yr but steve never came to the east coast and the more time that passes by...the cost of it gets less and less worth doing. anyway i guess if i ever change my mind ill have steve throw in the vcm then....i trust steve as he did some work for me on my 2006 E-350...

thanks for the info

I had Comand installed last year, and yesterday had phone pre-wire, bluetooth HFP cradle (which i use with my iphone) and Lingautronic installed. What a fantastic bit of kit, and everything's working fine. Also had C55 steering wheel with paddle shift put on, but needs bit more star programming to get it to recognise gearbox selector module.

I wonder if it is a European thing and a lack of ability on the American MCSII system...as Lingautronic is something I would like in the future too....

Ahh dreaming...
