All you have to do is pop open the door panel. You don't have to remove it. You just need to access the weather strip. You apply the Tint Protector MoleSkin Felt to the hard plastic part of the weather strip.

Thanks to Ryan and ctc230 for the pictures!

The ONLY way you can tell is if you have seen the door panel off. You can't just look into the door between the window and panel.
how you not notice what else is in my signature?

I don't have signatures showing. They clutter things up.

VDUBPOWER,

DON'T use the generic felt you have!! You will be sorry. The adhesive will break down and turn to liquid on the first day it sits in the sun. The inside of the door panel can reach over 200 Fahrenheit!

You need to get the http://www.tintprotector.com/mercedes kit. They make a moleskin that has adhesive that is designed to withstand the heat and humidity! The felt they sell is make JUST for this purpose.

You will end up doing it ALL over again when your cheap felt falls off.

You have to pop the door panel open. You don't have to remove it.

I thought it was just some general packet on how to install, but it had the instructions to my specific car, I was impressed.
Do you guys know if the new C class needs Tint Protector felt as well? Or does it have felt from the factory?

I just installed my mole skin a couple weeks ago after getting 35% all around. They advise applying molesking right after your tint cures and youre able to role down your windows. Installing before your tint may ruin the adhesive of the mole skin because of the chemicals the tint shops may use.

2007 CLS550
Sorry to crash the C thread, but this seems to have the most moleskin action! I'm in the process of trying to find a good tint shop in Northern VA to get my CLS 550 done. Was wondering:

1. Anyone know if the CLS has the "hard plastic" piece that scratches tint... do I need to install moleskin/tint protector?
2. Where can I find instructions for removing the CLS door panels?
3. Better yet, anyone know a shop that will tint AND install tintprotector?

Thanks for any help!

Hi JSIM000,

Does your CLS have streaks in the tint that look like the ones in the pictures below or are you just afraid it might happen?

I was afraid it might happen - Had previous MBs windows done and all had moleskin. Thought about DIY; however, after attempting to locate instructions for removing and reinstalling CLS door panels, and coming up empty, I decided to have the tint shop do it. Got 35% Llumar ATX with moleskin on 4 doors for $420... Yes expensive, but worth not destroying my door panels. Three weeks since install and no scratches or streaks. Its amazing how few tint shops even know what moleskin is!

oy, everyone if you tint your windows GET THIS, its cheap and easy to install, and well, i got mine just a little too late
this is after LESS THAN A YEAR of the film being on the window

Llumar wont replace them by warranty because they're clearly scratches, not "cracks" as i was trying to convince them $150 out the poorly tinted window
