2001 C320 OBDII Readout question

Did a search and couldnt find anything here is what the read out says....but before that the problem Im having is, during braking or decelleration it has an intermitent rough idle and also hesitates when taking off but of course not everytime.......

Definition:
Fuel Trim Bank Two Condition
Explanation:
The ECM has detected a rich or lean air/fuel ratio condition on bank two

Probable Causes
If bank one and two are set togehter suspect a fuel condition or MAF sensor Fault
Failed HO2S21
Iginition Misfire condition
Fuel injector problem
Engine mechanical condition

The PCM has determined that during testing the fuel compensation valvue for bank 2 exceeded the specified range Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder#1 while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank.

OK I did clean and reinstall the MAF sensor, not sure what HO2S21 fault is......and does anyone know a good MB or import mechanic in say Columbia, Clarksville or Laurel MD??? Can't check the injectors because I dont have a pressure gauge or not even sure what the range should be, including the expected voltage.....?

What OBDII reader did you use to get such a reading?

I'd immediately check the crank position sensor and Cam position sensor on that one.

Also, test your O2 sensor on that side as it may be malfunctioning since there are 2 per bank.

If you're getting a "fuel trim" code there should be a code of whether you're running lean or rich. At 85K, I suspect O2 sensors.

What maintenance has been done on the car?
- fuel filter?
- gas additives? (ie carbon build-up, injector cleaner)
- spark plugs?

Could be you just need some general maintenance to bring the car back to new.

It is the P0173, and the car has never had plugs replaced or wires, or fuel filter, speaking of that does anyone know the fuel filters location? It has had regular oil changes with syn, every 6k, has the K&N's air filters I will check price and maybe just replace the 02's just be safe and maybe the fuel filter too, hopefully its not any injectors..........

Figure about $350-$400 for 2 new downstream Bosch OEM direct fit o2 sensrors.

Fuel filter is located roughly underneath the passengers side rear seat. You have to take off the skirt to accesss the fuel filter. It's recessed in there. Plus, you have to clamp off the fuel lines and stuff.

Fuel injectors are an unlikely scenario, but there is a chance they are going berserk.

Before spending all this money, why not go to a shop, spend $100 for diagnosis, and go from there?

Just make sure it's a German car shop instead of one of those "we specialize in every make Foreign and domestic."

Also, just measure each injector with a multimeter to see if all are within the same range.

Last, motor mounts on these cars do go bad and that may be contributing to the cause of your rough idle.

If you got the time, i'd also pull both downstream 02 sensors and measure the resistance of both.

Hell, pull all 12 plugs and inspect & replace 'em.

I sometimes wish someone offered the rental of a Star Diagnosis multiplexer/T20/30 laptop.
