Part was replaced under warranty, but breaks 6 months after warranty expires, what no

So the blower regulator for my A/C system was replaced under warranty back in November 2007. I just took it to my mechanic, and it's broken again. I got in touch with my former service advisor at the dealer, and he said corporate will pay for the part, but I have to pay for labor, because the car is now outside of warranty.

What do you think of this arrangement? I think both part and labor should be covered.

You're out of warranty, be glad they are paying for anything cause they don't have to.

I asked the same about the leaking cam sensors, what happens when they leak again outside of warranty... quick answer, I'd have to pay to replace them despite MB replacing a faulty part with another faulty part.

I thought there was a warranty on the repair and labor.
Isn't that the LAW in some states?
My god how I hate stealerships.

You're already hating without knowing

If its the law, please look it up and supply it to this member, he could use it.

My independent mechanic warranties all his labour, if something breaks cause of work he did, he fixes it. If the part breaks, its warrantied, yet his labour to remove and replace it isn't.

Are you kidding me? Why should I have to lookup laws for people? I pointed him in the right direction.

And my statement about hating the dealers isn't because of this one incident. I guess I should make my statements more precise for people like you.

With only 18 posts I really think you should think before you disrespect other members due to your own inabilities to comprehend whats going on.

From my experience, generally the manufacture will warranty a failed part (parts and labor) on an out of warranty vehicle if the part was replaced under warranty within the last 90 days. If the vehicle is right out of warranty the dealers also has the ability to goodwill a repair at their discretion and still get reimbursed by the manufacture. At six months out, sounds like the dealer is working you a goodwill deal. I would take it.

Read my first post, I posted a fact, that I have dealt with MB about parts that are replaced under warranty yet are known to fail again.

In this case the part is what is faulty unless you can prove that it was installed incorrectly. If you can prove it was installed incorrectly, then the labor and the part should be warrantied.

I would, as Frank says, take the deal and have them certify that part for one year from now.
