Get the filter from the dealership. Nappa auto parts carry's it as well, its made by mann. If you do the extended service intervals you'll need to have the fleece filter.

Good man...Mobil 1 ONLY! FOREVER! (my girl sells Royal Purple,so this is like on the REAL DOWN LOW!) I think my mechanic uses the Mann filter. Napa carries it-you'll be alright

Your only option it to go to nappa and see if they have the filter. Dont get those crappy oil filters.

Search the forum, someone posted the mann part numbers.

No, don't get the K&N filter. The Mann filter is made out of fleese not paper and will allow you to keep the extended service intervals.

I was under the impression that the K&N was fleece as well. Is that not correct?

I bought my oil filter at the MBZ dealer for somwhere around 15 bucks and that was with all the o-rings and a couple brass washers.

Are the Mann filters just as good as OEM filters? My local Napa dealer sells all their filters for 50% off this month.

I'm 99% sure that the Mercedes filters are just re-branded MANN filters.

I'm 100% sure with fleece. Mann did the development jointly with Benz - With paper some are Hengst.

The Napa Gold filter appears to be a fleece filter (I don't remember if it's a rebranded MANN or not) and they should have that filter in stock should they not have the MANN in stock.

use either bosch or mann for the oil filter...currently i am using AMS Oil 5w-30 in my c240 v6 -- smoother engine and better fuel consumption

Just change your oil every 5,000miles

That Napa Gold filter is not fleece - It's paper. Bosch is a rebranded Mann. Do not run non 229.5 approved oils - period.

That Napa filter in your picture is paper. That's not the same one I have, the one I have is a 7078.

I've done some research and as far as I can tell, all the genuine fleece filters are made by MANN and re-branded, even the K&N ones. With this in mind, why would you ever want to look for something else and risk getting a paper filter or pay more? Also, it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to use a fleece filter. Paper filters will not hold up in the extended oil change intervals.

As far as the oil goes, Mobil1 0w-40 is without a doubt the best engine oil for Mercedes engines requiring 229.5 spec oil. Period, end of discussion.

I just got my engine oil changed and my shop used 0W40 Mobil1, but is there only one kind of 0W40 Mobil1?

I didn't even ask what kind of filter they used, but they always use OEM parts, so it should fleece filter?

yes there is only one kind of Mobil1 0w-40, at least in the US. There are other weights of Mobil1, none of which are recommended for MB's.
