Just got off the phone with him: he says the wheels are 19x9 all around, with 225 tires up front and 265 in the back. in writing, it sounds pretty whack...but he sounded pretty confident about it. is it posible?

online, the rim is made only in 8.5 and 9.5, but he says they're 9 and the tires are staggerd, but the wheels arent?

the spokes curving is not based on the offset... thats just the design of the wheel

you won't be able to fit 9's up front.

Running staggered tires (especially that much) on non-staggered wheels is weak. Based on what you've said so far, I probably wouldn't trust the guy.

im gonna give this guy more credit than he deserves from what i hear so far lol, cuz i really like these rims.

in the pictures, the tires are indeed 225/265 with no lip difference. so lets just say ALL WE KNOW about these rims/tires are that the tires are 225 in the front and 265 in the rear and they've been on a SLK350, will they fit my car? im so close to cutting a deal

is there any way to find the true width of the wheels?

he also sent me a ton of pictures of the rims and tires, but i cant tell just by looking at pictures if they'll fit or w/e

found this handy tool online
according to this: no same rim can fit a 225 tire and a 265 tire

which confuses me because in the pictures, all 4 rims have the same size lip...
can anyone with more expertise figure this one out?

Kev: There is absoultely no correlation between wheel width and lip size.

oh sorry, i was under the impression that on staggered setups, the rear lip would always be larger.

Sometimes, but not always. Perfect example is TSW Bremma wheels. Their 18x8.5/9.5 have the same tiny size lip front and rear, but their 19x8.5/9.5 have a small lip in front and a nice deep lip in the rear.

Thanks. Does anyone have an explanation for this? All I'm really looking for is a simple explanation as to whether or not these would fit my car.

Good example, B. Another example is my car. I have 19X10 in the rear, but not a lot of people know, cuz the lip isn't "massive". It's just right, but the offset accounts for bigger brakes (which I can hopefully get soon).

YES WE'RE MAKING PROGRESS!

I checked the back of the spokes, I was wrong the Rim is 19 x 81/2" J, other spokes say, FE71 Mandrus, ET 3/2, AJ21, Max. wt.1925#, don't know if that helps, you could always mount them in my drive to check fit
so from that, i gather that the rims are 19x8.5 with 32 offset..so it should fit
now about the rears, a 265 tire size will fit only 9.5-10.5 rims....so BLAH

www.axiswheels.com

check out their site on single piece wheels and how different widths they make have different sized lips. its a single piece cast wheel so they can cut the face any way they want and that will help dictate what kinda lip size itll get. a lot of companies do "staggered setups" now. the 19x9's with different tire sizes front and rear but same offset is not a true staggered setup. the tires itself are staggered but the wheel is not. imho faking staggered wheels is gay
