I want to see if the rims from a sl55/sl500 will fit on my 05 c240. Here are the specs:

front is 18 x 8.5 with 30 offset
rear is 18 x 9.5 with 33 offset

Thanks

So I won't have to worry about rolling the finder or anything special like that as long as I get a standard size tire. I was on another forum and they said it would not work because the front rims are 8.5 wide. Can anyone see an issue with that width and a stock suspension. I have looked through this thread and there seems to be enough people with the W203 style with 8.5 up front.

Should be OK - you might have to be careful with tyre sizes but that's all.

i'm assuming you drive a W203 since your in this site. To answer your question, 18x7 will fit, however 5x120 bolt pattern will not. MB C-Class W203 bolt pattern is 5x112.
Those wheel your talk'n about will fit a BMW tho. I think a 3 series.

Are replica wheels worth the savings?

I really want to get some C63 wheels. A set of factory AMG wheels and tires with low miles is going to cost me around $2000. I found a similar wheel from Replica Wheel (Discount Tire). I think either way I'm going to have to buy spacers and lugs. The replicas would be 18X8.5 and 18x9.5 both have a 30mm offset. I can get the replicas with Yokohama S.Drive tires from Discount Tire Direct for about $1400. I don't really have any experience with this brand, so I don't know if it's a good quality wheel or not. I obviously want a smooth ride and something that will balance up easily without a ton of weight. What are your thoughts?

replicas are fine for daily driving. I dont know if the oems are forged, but if they are they would be lighter and stronger, so better if your gonna take it on the track. If your daily driving and not tracking it, you won't really notice a difference.

Some replicas are stronger than factory originals. AMG rims are giving all sorts of trouble on the W204 forum. ET30 offset is great!! Nice wheel - go for it.

Splits & cracks in the centre of the outer rim - man it's thin!!! They have all been diagnosed by the dealers as having hit something but the owners say they were not aware they had hit anything - who to believe?

Hmm, I don't like that. Especially since I won't get a warranty with buying some used factory wheels. I just called Discount Tire and these replicas are actually made by VOXX Wheels and come with a 1 year finish and 2 year structural warranty. But, they're still in production and don't appear to be available yet. He took my number and said he'd call the manufacturer when they open and see about availability. It looks like with the offset, I might only need a 5mm spacer in the front to clear my brakes (I'd test fit first). Starting to sound better now. I can just go get some center caps from Mercedes for the C63 wheel and use them in the replicas too.

I talked to Discount Tire Direct and they said it's actually only the front wheels (the 8.5" wide ones) that are still in production. He said it would probably be 2-3 weeks. Of course I never heard back from the guy at the store. I suppose I'll just go with these wheels over factory wheels, especially if they are prone to the same things cheaper aftermarket wheels supposedly are.

oem are not forged. other than few higher end 63 wheels.

replica wheels are fine depending on the brand and manufacturer.

Alright, well VOXX Wheels seem to be decent enough. I haven't seen any major issues with the brand in my searching just people complaining about bending wheels (but they also say they live up north where pot holes are common). I never had a problem with the American Racing wheels I had on my Camaro.

Since you (Frank) know about wheel fitment, do you think I'll need any spacers for these wheels (specifically in the front)? What type/length of lug bolts do I need to get?

judging from the spec. no you don't need spacers.

without physically looking at the wheel there's no way to tell what type of bolts you need.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
I've seen them on the 2009 C63s, maybe it's an option, but they do fit!

Replicas are good for people who buy wheels all the time because they get bored of what they have. If you switch wheels all the time then replicas are the way to go so you don't spend too much money in the long run.

I don't really plan to change wheels often unless I don't like the way it looks or if I find something that I like so much I have to have it. I had the same wheels on my Camaro for 2 years.

you can probably just reuse your oem bolts. I'm running at et of 27 front and 30 rear on 19x8 rims and i was able to reuse the oem bolts.

all pretty positive feedbacks, awesome, there was a time here that the mere mention of replica will send you to the gas chamber, must be the economy, or members in good mood. Now I feel better looking at replicas.
