Like how too long? I have a set from my first car that is about 10mm too long. Is the parking brake only in the rear? I don't believe I hear any contact in the rear. Ill take a quick vid in the am.

Interesting. So if it spins freely I can use any size I have. Good to know.

the parking mechanism is pretty close to the hub so you'll have to test them out. you just cant use any bolt if it spins freely. you have to make sure it still threads deep enough to hold the wheel on because if its too short it can cause issues too. From initial turning of the bolt when it catches the threads it should take 6 full rotations to tighten the bolt down.

So in the rear being 4mm too long I have to check for proper clearance. In the front I have more of an allowance for length because there is nothing besides the hub and the assembly/ cv joint. I'm sure there's no way ill be catching that with bolts 10mm too long (.39"). Ill have to get under my car, get all fur corners off the ground, and spin the wheel in neutral to make certain.

should be ok in front but you can take the wheel off and look behind the rotor to see what else might be in the way.

I didn't know you were 4matic. There might be some clearance issues then on the front.

*****, good excuse to do my brakes since ill have half them off anyway. Any difference in mb brakes vs all other European brands?

Phister, happen to have a DIY on the wheel studs? I happen to have a 20 ton press in my shop which I assume will be a great help.

wheel studs is easy... just screw them in like wheel lugs. just apply some BLUE threadlock to the end screwing in and torque it to 20-25ft/lbs and let them sit for a hour. our thread pitch is 12x1.5

acorn/conical lug nuts are the normal actually for aftermarket wheels. ballseat lugs are the hard ones to find. You can get them at different places, you can buy H&Rs which is the ones above or from other companies. just google wheel stud conversion and a list of companies come up and just see which ones you like and the price.

I paid a little higher price because I bought the race version. Most kit comes with lug nuts

Of course, after I spent $45 on lug bolts. To the classifieds they go!

The longest I can seem to find is 38mm of thread. That won't be enough as far as I can tell. Damn this is quickly becoming not worth the new rims.

Edit:
Called Dorman auto parts. Gave them the thread size and asked for the longest shank they had. 26mm+ 15mm hub penetration. That's 41mm total length. With the 20mm spacers the longest I need is 42mm. Sold in packs of 10. Dorman part number 610-463. Your local autozone/ pep boys/ napa can order it for you. I ordered. Ill report back if it works.

you dont want more than 5-6 mm hub pentration plus you have too look at studs differently than lug bolts. 38 is just the shank length not including the extra amount that goes into the hub so you'll have a total of 38mm to use for the spacer and lug nut so you'll have 18mm of stud to use if you use 20mm spacers. Just have to becareful how you read the studs because some company will do shank then overall length. If you go too long it'll look weird when you put the lugs on because the stud might stick out of the lug and if that happens you'll need to buy open ended lug nuts.

Just ordered a set of the 57mm black race studs.

Then I hopped on eBay and bought a set of open end acorn locking nuts. And a set of closed end ballseat nuts for the winter/ stock rims.

Thank you for all the help guys! Greatly appreciated. If anyone needs I have the 45mm extended conical bolts for $25 shipped. Brand new.

Stance shot. Not driving like this.

Thanks!
The ride on my 265/30/19 was a little better but what makes it a little harsher is the 225/35 on the 9.5" in the front. My Work Brombacher setup is a little more aggressive than my current setup and will probably go with 235/35 f 255/30 r on that with some fender work. I ordered the Work wheels for the CLK two years ago and i just never got around to putting them on because of my other project car, relocation, etc but i can't wait any longer. I'm hoping to have them on soon.

These are pictures of the front setup 19x9.5 225/35/19. Will replace them with 235/35 Nankangs to match the rear soon. Stock fenders but will be getting a roll soon. The rear rubbed quite a bit at 9.5+5 but only on dips so i'm back to 9.5+15 until the fender work is done. 90mm stud conversion too.

yeah my ride is a bit rough on 215/40/18 on 18x9 in front even though my dampening is set pretty soft on my coilovers.

cant wait to see the works on. I remember I had the vs-xx way back when in like 2001 before they became huge here.

Honestly, I have no idea. That's just what the guy from my wheel and tire shop told me. He said he's tried everything

My car was involved in an accident, broke 3 of the rims, so its been in the shop for a while, I'm just waiting for rims and tires. That's why I'm kind of in the dark as far as what he's tried.

well you really need to go look at it and test them yourself and see what size spacers he's using. with 18x8.5 +45 you can add up to a 20mm spacer without rubbing the fender.

that or the guy is being stupid and put the larger 9.5 in front lol. but you have alot of room to get the wheels to fit over the calipers.

Just got off the phone with him. He's saying they're the 8.5's with a 15mm spacer
