the 255 goodyears got 35mm in height = 5mm less then the standart tire (245/40/17)

255 is the smallest tire you can put on a 9.5 wheel. so i'd say you dont have any protection for the lip. and even if, its not enough to protect it when you slighty hit a curb.

but the lip on the front wheels is pretty much exposed too with only 235 on a 8.5, because just check your 245 on the rear wheel now (on a 8.5) and take 5mm of (each side) - damn close then

There not much protection from the stock OEM wheels too if you think about it. I almost scratched mine doing a parallel park in my place. Just be more careful when parking and stuff.

Any update on the GB for tires? I'd love to have them show up mounted and balanced with a bag of lugs.

Yup, I think that would make the deal pretty sweet. Only thing is people will differ in their preference for tires. I am cool with cheap-o's as I won't be dragging or auto-x'ing anytime soon (at least not in this car).

well $799 shipped is for just the rims, with the tires mounted and balanced new shipping would be added, mounting/balancing cost, extra labor to pack the tires without the boxes, so I rather not offer a mounted and balanced package. However there was another guy that wanted to offer you guys tire group buy. should be in the previous pages somewhere.

the contact just got to U.S. friday...i'll talk to him monday.

It was worth a shot. So are we on our own for tires then? Are lugs still part of the deal, or did that get squashed? Frank, thanks for your patience and help.

for tires you guys are on your own. since too many people have different preferences and different worries.

for the bolts my contact says he might be able to get it for us. Haven't got the official words yet. I will go to his office and talk to him monday or tuesday before he go bak to taiwan.

as of right now there's still 1 set yet to be taken since razor came in and one of the original guy dropped due to important family crisis.

If no group buy on tires, then I will wait until I have wheels in hand to buy. I have decided on the Goodyears, though.

I pinged Luke from Tire Rack here. Let's see what happens. We haven't heard any more from the other interested vendor.

I'm still in for Goodyears, anything that is cheap and good is fine. I don't do any track racing yet.

just got words from the factory that the wheels should be here by 12/25 in container.

however the factory has fuked up the total wheel count. instead of 24 pcs of 19x8.5 they only made 20 pcs and instead of 20 pcs of 19x9.5 they made 22 pcs. SO KickR, you'll be getting the 19x9.5 rear instead.

and there won't be an extra set. Instead we'll have 2 extra 19x9.5 available.

they look like more chisled larger versions of the oem wheels. I personally wouldn't go for em...

btw, make sure that your rims not only are the right offset, but they also clear the front brake calipers. that's the hardest part with getting wheels for 05+ w203 SS's.

good luck.

It's not bad but it looks too much like stock. There are plenty of nicer 5 spokes out there........ I was running a nice looking five spoke before the set was damaged....
If I were to buy another 5 spoke, I would go with something like the TSW MONTAGE.

I quite like it, it's simple and has fat spoke and look just like stock which is good. The absence of lips and the proturding of the spoke will create a bigger than actual size illusion. Just be carefull of curb
