Installed the rear diffuser on my C55 AMG! Looks great! Pictures below. Thanks Teo! Had my body guy epoxy it on and fill the seam around the diffuser with epoxy the next day. $40 install.

2005 C230WZ SS Capri Blue/Ash
Cintoman's Single Rear Diffuser

Hey Everyone,

Well, I finaly got around to taking some pictures of my installed diffuser. I did a very quick (and horrible) wash of my rear bumper so it would at least look somewhat presentable.

As you may know from reading some of my other posts in this thread, I decided to go with 3M adhesive tape to mount the diffuser to my bumper. Everything looks great with the exception of 1 minor spot which I included a closeup of. This spot is directly above the 3rd fin. Also, the diffuser is a little bit short on the right side and doesn't quite follow the bumper cut line exactly. But it's unlikely any casual observer would ever notice.

Also, I decided against cutting my OEM bumper to match the opening the diffuser has for the exhaust. I had debated this, but felt again that it would never be noticed by any casual observer. Heck, I even have a hard time distinguishing that the opening are not matched up. Thankfully, the Capri Blue color helps disguise this.

So here are the pics. Comments, suggestions always welcome....

Cintoman

It's possible, but tough to notice the exhaust cutouts are not the same. However, this is a pretty close up shot. What's interesting is that my exhaust came from the factory slightly off-center in relation to the OEM cutout. However, this actually makes the exhaust centered in Teo's diffuser cutout opening:

Another view. The opening differences are not noticeable at all from this angle, and it looks pretty nice:

In this shot, it's a bit noticeable, but again, it's a pretty tight zoom.:

Here's a very closeup shot. Note that I am on my stomach here, not aware that my son is about to jump on top of me and make permanent road engravings on my bare stomach. Yeah, that hurt. Anyways, you can see the mismatch clearly with the OEM cutout and the diffuser's cutout. Again, noticeable, but due to the angle I took the shot. Also noticeable is how the diffuser doesn't match the bumper cutout line towards the right. You can also notice the minor lifting above the 3rd fin:

A closeup of the lifting area. If you look at the line of the diffuser piece, you can see that it forms downward just a little bit toward the fin. I believe this is the reason it's not following the bumper line. No real big deal, but any suggestions on how to permanently get this matched up? I'm thinking about squeezing an ever-so-small amount of epoxy in there. I backed my car up to my concrete foundation wall, and fitted some wood between the wall and my bumper to put pressure on it. It works for a day or so, but then starts lifting again. It never gets worse than this. Also, you'll notice a bit further to the right, there's some tape stickiness residue, as well as some minor waviness in the diffuser's line. This is the other minor section where it will lift up just a little bit. Never as bad as above the fin, but just enough to notice that the tape is stretching out just a wee bit. This is due to the "cover" blocking the right exhaust opening Teo did for us single exhaust owners. This cover is already pressing against the bumper when you still have about 1 inch before sticking the diffuser to that side of the bumper. So there's some decent force working against the tape. And frankly, I'm amazed the tape holds it as well as it does:

Well there you have it. Enjoy everyone, and again, comments are welcome.

looks good cintoman! i had the same problem, and i had to kinda put it in the center, so the mismatch on the right is not as noticable. frankw told me to use sealant on the gap, and i think you should also. use a black sealant and i think it would kinda fill it in.

Teo,

Can you make one for the W208 CLK55 AMG rear bumper with the same C55 quad exhaust cutout sizes? I will worry about customizing a quad exhaust set up.
