2006 c230
2006 C230 noisy?
I'm a new 2006 owner and ive noticed when I rev my engine I hear a whinning noise. At first I just thought this is how the MB sounded but after a friend told me that is not normal I'm a little worried. Do I need to take it in and get it checked out?

might need to describe the sound a little more- in or out of gear? location of sound? pitch of the sound?

i think it's the tensior pulley. Take it to the dealer. Mine was fixed under warranty

I think this is likely right. Hard to diagnose when we can't hear it. Sometimes it's just the poly V belt. A squirt of belt dressing will shut it up. I don't know whether Merc sanction this approach - good luck

in '06 they switched it up on the c230. it went from a 4cyl kompressor to a N/A 2.5L 6cyl.

The noise only happens when I rev up in or out of gear. Kind of sounds futuristic.

i have got an 06 c230 w/ 21,000 miles. i havent noticed any noises as you describe.

After my first "B" service I had a whining sound right from the moment I took it from service...almost aircraft sounding. I actually liked it! After the next service it went away. Not sure what all that was about.
