cracked SMART KEY
i'm just wondering, i have an old smart key (2005- one without the chrome) that has a cracked LOCKED button and not sure if that'll be covered under warranty? i read some older post that some dealers don't even ask question they just replace them with the new chrome key (SLK and CLK forum)

YEAH It's covered under warranty. i jsut got back from the dealer and spoke to my servivce rep he seem aware of the problem about this cracked keys he didn't even doubt me. my previous service rep wouldn't honor the warranty because it was consider wear and tear items. so if the key cracks it's my fault luckly my new service rep is nicer. gonna get my key end of the week with new chrome buahahha ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

a quarter mile at a time
I'm glad I have a great SA but if I didn't, I'd calmy sit him down and have a little chat with him. I'd start by asking him if the key failed, if there was ANY way to start the car. When he said no, I'd then ask him if there was ANY way roadside assistance could start a car without a working key? When he said no to this I'd then ask him if it was a good idea for me to be driving around with a crack in my key that lets in moisture, dust, etc etc.
