New Member!

Hi All! I'm new to this forum (obviously), and just wanted to introduce myself. I am doing it in the W203 forum since this is where I will probably be posting the most, being that's what I own. What I own is a 2001 C320 in Brilliant Silver and a charcoal interior. It had 56,000 miles on it and one owner when I bought it on July 1st of this year. It now has just about 60,000 miles on it (I do a lot of driving). This is my first Mercedes Benz vehicle, actually my first foregin vehicle. So, needless to say, a lot about this car is very new to me. I've been reading these forums for about a full month now and have actually learned a lot about my car from what I have read so far. So with all of that being said, take it easy on me for a little while!

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy reading. There is a ton of information on here that will be very helpful.

There are stickied threads at the top of the forum that I'd suggest looking through. Feel free to bump old threads, as it may be a discussion that many have not seen before and since the chassis has been discontinued, there aren't very many topics that haven't been discussed.

Thanks! I am enjoying it! I just took it on a 1,000 mile round trip to Virginia, then North Carolina (Outer Banks) then back home in PA. Also on this trip I experienced my first CEL with this car. That wasn't too cool, but is soon disappeared two days after it showed up. So between that, the having to use premium gas, and the excessive brake dust build up on the front wheels, I'm very happy with the car.

Just some quick tidbits before you read through the stickies for the threads:

CEL - It's a common issue on older models and has been discussed on here. I suggest having it checked for any possible hose leaks, o2 sensor issues, etc...

Premium Gas - Some have added fuel additives and it has helped improve their gas mileage. This has been discussed before.

Excessive Brake Dust - There are aftermarket brake pads for the OEM brakes that have proven to be spectacular when it comes to creating less brake build up (e.g. Porterfield, Akebono).

Hope this helps.

That's what you get with OEMs. I switched and can go a week without the wheels looking as bad as they used to within 1/2 a day. Very easy fix. I wish I had done it years earlier.

These were the ones I got:

I am sure there are much better pads out there, but these have worked quite admirably so far.

That's because the fronts do a very larger percentage of the braking.

PA Pete- Welcome to the forum. No worries about being on here while at work. I'd venture a guess that a lot of us have that same "sickness"

Welcome Pete. I just did Williamburg VA. then down the Outer Banks in my 2005 C230ss. Had a great time. Alarm kept going off on the ferry from Hatteras to Okracoke. I did not get any CEL, however I did average 34.6 mpg. Welcome to the forum and by the way-I am at work right now.

Nice! I have an uncle that lives in the D.C. area, I stopped in there on my way home to PA from North Carolina. I too was at the Outer Banks, in Kitty Hawk with some friends. I however did not average that good of gas milage! I think I averaged somewhere around 28 or 27 mpg. My check engine light turned out to be a misfire according to the dealership. It came and went, so I'm not sure if it was some bad gas I had gotten, or (If possible) it was loaded up from sitting in traffic for almost two hours. Either way, I can't believe what the dealership charges just to check the CEL! I need to get ahold of an SDS or something! I know that's a little far fetched, but hey, If I can find one cheap enough (yeah right), I would get it.
