Drew_ML has it in the C320. DO you think it would also work for us Coupies ??? I think the coupe's pillars are too thick and close to each other to be helped with any of these products.

Any opion???

Well it is inconsequential how thick the pillars are because the mirror "covers" your blindspot through your side window Oh and it does work, BTW. It works fine for the coupe, the wagon, etc. I have one in my ML as well, and love it.

The Autobahn mirror that I have is unique in that it has a suction cup for the windshield. Those that are on sale on the 'net only come with semi-permanent double-sided tape to stick onto your windshield. I've seen some cheap immitation Chinese made autobahn mirrors which jiggle like crazy as you go over road undulations. Ugh!

Would you like a picture of my mirror? If you or others are interested, perhaps I could set up a group buy for the mirror that I have.

Here's a picture of the dash. Note my Avantgarde Laurel wood/aluminum shift knob from forymeredes.com. That was my very first mod

Isn't it easier and better looking to get euro side mirror glasses with the convex shaped anti blind spot glass?
It is a simple swap of mirror glasses...it is OEM...and it gets rid of the blind spot.

Ask mark ccummins about these glasses...he swapped the mirror glasses in both his cars.

erm...I did note the steering wheel...any possibility you want to upgrade this wheel to an OEM leather/wood steering wheel? I have a new one in that color...

greetingz,
Steve, believe me, I thought of it for quite a while with the ML as well. But here is the problem. With those aspherical Euro mirrors, you still have to shift your vision much further outwards to see the image, similar to my 2" convex stick-on mirror on the outside wing mirror.

With the autobahn mirror you only have to shift it a little bit as it is mounted almost a foot further inwards than the outside edge of the wing mirror. Frankly, I don't even use the stick-on on the driver side any longer other than the align myself within a parking lot space. It is simply much quicker for me to glance at the Autobahn mirror to see if there are any cars there. The quick glance can make the difference between rear-ending the car ahead of you (if the driver stops suddenly) and not.

Additionally, since the Autobahn mirror is mounted inside, it won't get wet and the vision partially obscured by the rain droplets.

Then there is the matter of ease and cost. A 5 minute stick-on job and about US$20-$25 versus dismantling the outside mirror + the cost involved in buying a new mirror.

greetingz,
Thanks very much for the offer, but at this point I think probably not. Just curious though, how much would it cost? :p Heh, if anything I'd probably want the COMAND system first!

I'd like to find a high quality stick-on mirror; the ones I've seen so far seem like they'd cloud up after awhile

It is only the glass that you need...it is interchangeable...

The mirror glasses on the picture are W210 but show the dashed line that indicates the convex shape...

if you install the autobahn mirror on the passenger side of the windshield, will it cure the blind spot on that side also ?

Hi Benzer,

Oops sorry about that. I don't use PM'ing that often and didn't realise that it was full. I've since cleared it and you should be able to send me a message (or just e-mail me)

I'll PM you with the details of the mirror. It's a Canadian supplier, BTW

Oh and your PM box is full, LOL.

You know, I've never tried that, LOL. However, the mirror is made so that the larger end is for the driver's side, not the passenger's side. I think that you can probably still get it to work though. I'll experiment

Gee, I didn't know I had an "Autobahn" mirror. I bought this several years ago ($12) at a local "Brookstone Store." It's made in Germany and is optically perfect from edge to edge. I don't know if Brookstone still carries it.

Finally got the courage to paste it to my dashtop. It came with a window mount (suction cup), too, but I could never get a good view around that thick pillar without going to the stick-on. Works very well.
