Transmission Problem

I was driving the other day with my friend and at a stop light he moved my shifter into neutral as a joke and I didnt see so when the light turned green I didnt take off and then when I put the car back in drive it didnt go back in gear. I had to restart the car in order for it to go into gear. Would that be due to needing transmission fluid or something along those lines? Any input would help so I dont have to go to the stealership and have them do an easy job and charge me a ridiculous price.

Safety mechanism - After reboot of the processor all should be fine. Had a similar experience in my car. Will do the same thing if the car is rolling forward fairly quickly & you try & select reverse.

no, it's not a transmission problem, it's a dumb friend problem.
Next time he does that and thinks he's funny, pass him a fake bill and see how funny it is now.

+1 - We and the Australians have words for people like that - not for forum consumption - don't want to be banned!

Agreed!!! I was so mad because I thought they did something to my transmission. Thanks for all the help. Now I know next time to just install another mechanism so when they do it again the passenger door opens and an auto eject button

Sounds good - at least you have nothing to worry about - enjoy your car.

I went to a dealer to test drive a W203. The salesman was a non-stop talker, and clearly knew nothing about the car. He deceided he would drive because the "roads are tricky" near the dealer. I did not stop him or tell him I have lived in the area all my life. About two miles into his demo, I had enough. While he looked left at a light, I pushed the transmission lever to the left. This set the box to first gear. When we took off the car did not shift into second. He drove back to the lot in first. I am so bad.

Wow. I assuming this was MBLN? What kind of turd thinks he could sell any car that the client doesn't drive and love?

I hope you wrote a note to Mr. Bolter about that doofus.
