Getting my C230K tonite just a few questions.
I'm getting a Black C230K 6 speed with AMG rims. They are saying $32,800. We are trying for $32,000. Does that sound about right? It's not leather, it's just the 6 speed, CD Changer, and AMG rims. I don't really like the sound of the system, it could be better. My dad's 2002 ML500 sounds really good. My mom's 2001 E320 Sport sounds good too. I'm just a little disappointed. Is there any hope of improving the sounds without changing out the whole system. Also are there any lowering springs out for it yet, or will springs from earlier models work? And last does anyone know of any aftermarket parts for this car yet? I've called everywhere and can't even find an exhaust.

Hi there,
Congrats on the new car. Regarding what you brought up, are you getting the Bose system? That might help the sound system a bit. People generally say it's better than the stock system, but it doesn't live up to Bose systems on other Mercedes' cars. But there's an option. As far as price, you don't sound like you have many options at all! 32.8? I think somethings wrong, I'm getting an Orion Blue with Automatic, C5 premium (sunroof, leather, bose), C7 (17 inch wheels, and a whole bunch more), and COMAND navigation system for $31.2 before taxes! I can't imagine a CD changer and AMG wheels can be THAT expensive. Don't make that deal, if you gave me a week, I could find you a MUCH MUCH better deal. You're looking at a bone stock black c-coupe without even automatic as an option, and the dealer is trying to tell you a CD changer and new wheels are $8,000? Either you're getting ripped off, or you have options you're not listing. Perhaps the premium package? (Wait, you can't have the premium, you don't have leather, man what a bad deal) It's very simple, to figure out what you should pay, find the invoice price and add $700. You can almost always make that deal. As it stands right now, you're getting RIPPED OFF, I'm paying $2000 less and getting MUCH MUCH more.

Sorry if I sound like I've got an "attitude", but in today's world, there's not much surprise about what a vehicle should cost.
Djliku:
Go to www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com and look at the MSRP and invoice prices for the car and options. But, the AMG wheels probably won't be there so you'll have to know the MSRP (probably on mbusa.com). Add it all up, first MSRP then invoice. For sure, you shouldn't be paying over MSRP!! As far as negotiating a lower price, it's up to you and your dealer to see how far they'll move.
Also, the sticker's on the car! If you're going to pick it up, the MSRP is right there -- don't pay more! I don't get the issue, sorry.

Checked mbusa.com -- here's some info...
OK, I went to mbusa.com and checked the prices.
C230K 6-spd 24950
Destination 645
C2 995
CD Changer 775
AMG Wheels 1880 (or 2010 depending)
TOTAL 29245
I'm assuming you're getting C2 for the sunroof, not C5 (since you said no leather). I don't think anyone pays the full price for the CD. Anyway, I don't know what tax is in CA, but assume 6%. That takes the total to $31K. Title and registration, maybe $100? Looks like around $31200 or so, unless there's something else you didn't mention, or the wheels cost even more (maybe tires too?) Let us know.

C230K Coupe/Orion/C4/C5/CD/AMG Spoiler/V60/TeleAid, 2 MGB's
I was under the impression that MOST dealers credit you for the take off's (wheels/tires) toward the purchase of the upgraded AMG rims and tires.
Assuming you got the 5 spoke AMG staggered rims......that's 2010 plus the cost of tires minus the credit for the take off's...you should get a better deal than "list list list price"....

I am getting my C230 in about 10 days(!!!) and just got the final price: for Black, auto, C5, C7 and the HuberOptiK tint : $33,600. That is out the door. AZ sales tax is 7.7%, and our license/registration fees are very HIGH here. I am paying $470 for my plates. Title fee, $190. Destination charge $675. I would look for a better deal.

Margo - When you get your car, let me know what you think of the HuberOptik tint. I didn't get my car done and am thinking it might be a good thing to take care of before summer comes. Is it a standard film or what? How dark is it?
Thanks - John

don't forget you get a lot of safety features that are included. i'd pay an extra $1000 for each of the following: the extra airbags, ESP, (BAS gets $500), (LATCH get $100). and you get free service for 4 years. you get lifetime roadside assistance. can't forget the smart key technology that makes the car virtually impossible to steal. that's worth some peace of mind.
so even if the cost goes over the (arbitrary) $30k mark, there are a lot of hidden value.
of course, i can't believe that a car in 2002 doesn't have a cdplayer standard... how much do they cost? $20 each if you sell a million cars?

yea, but thirty thousand dollars
Sorry. Just because you paid over 30k does not mean you have a bargain. There are many options out there. Don't overpay for this car. I just went down to the dealer and test drove. It's nice, but that is a lot of money for this car/engine.

but then again, parts/repairs for the MB are much higher...

or are you saying that the apple is inherently only worth .75¢? and everyone paying $1 is getting ripped off?
now i'm confusing myself.

Crossfire Coupe
Hi, there congrats. You're probably are tired of reading the you could do better with price, but really, yes you could. I got a '02 Black C230 Coupe with the Panorama, Oyster leather, automatic and got the dealer to amazingly deal $875 on the car and with taxes and all it came out to $29K and change and this was back in late Nov. early Dec. with no lead time. DOn't be afraid to deal there are lots of Mercedes dealers out there that can give you a much better deal. You have to be as aggressive with your budget position as they are with trying to sell you the car.
