Saying Goodbye
Just wanted to say thank you to all those on this forum who have provided insight and advice when I needed it most. I am trading in my Benz for a Lexus IS 350 and will miss this forum quite a bit. I am parting out the car and have my Brabus Wheels, sprint booster and winter mats for sale in the classifieds. Good luck to you all with whatever projects that may arise in the future; I will miss my Merc dearly. Once again, thank you.

A lot of cars are boring stock but it's all about how you mod the car to make it personal. The IS350 is insanly fast compared to his c230 and your c240 if you didn't know.Great upgrade.

If he gets a Japanese built Lexus it will be better screwed together than a Benz. Better painted etc. They are magnificently built & generally trouble free, thoroughly sorted vehicles.
This aside they are still the most uninvolving vehicles to drive - maybe this is the price of perfection. I recently drove the new GS 450h Hybrid. It stired something in me because it goes like stink - the input from the electric motor which gives you full torque from zero RPM is interesting to say the least but the car is just so sterile. Now, the new C63 AMG - enjoyed a press day a month back - That's what I call involving!! a bit of a handful but I could not get the grin off my face for hours after driving that & the tyres were a bit shot by the time I got my hands on it.
The Lexus is a fine choice for law school! A fine choice period.
BTW - 99.99% of vehicles purchased around the world are not modified - but driven & maintained stock. The notion of modifying vehicles is really the domain of a relatively small bunch of enthusiasts - so I don't buy your argument.

believe it or not, not everyone on this forum is a C230 boy racer !
It might be faster, but it has no soul. It's just a generic appliance, a C is a great small car.

The sooner people realise that the 4cyl C Class was built by MB as the Benz for the proletariate & European Taxi drivers, and that there is nothing wrong with that - the better for all.
I love the W203 forum but find the endles my Benz Banger is better than your Benz Banger & anything Japanese is "rice" rather amusing.
Even more amusing is then they rush of and bolt a whole lot of Asian sourced "rice" cosmetic crap & wheels onto their German designed vehicle.

No offence to Asian members of the forum for using the US term "rice". I love Asia, it's people and it's cultures - wonderful, smart. bright & with a great work ethic.

I agree Carlos.
I though he was talking about power when he said that an IS was "boring". On the cosmetic side (in my opinion), it looks much better than a stock C240 but on level with a 05+ C230.
First off, we all know the c230/C240 are slow as hell compared to a IS350. Even with that said, I could care less about power because I'm more concerned with the looks and design of the car rather than speed.
I don't understand what you are saying about all this rice stuff? Are you hating against Japanese items or just stating other's opinions on the forum?

What Glyn (and I in a way) are saying is only what is quite common and obvious on the W203 forum. And it's being going on for at least 6 years. Yeah, yeah, the C230K is a great car... but admittingly there are a lot of C230K owners (and many of them in this forum) that think it's the end-all/be-all of racing prowess. That's great and dandy. People enjoy their cars and that's what the forum is about. Opinions are traded back & forth. Doesn't mean you have to agree or disagree. It's just an opinion. No one is hating on Japanese... "rice" is a common US term nowadays that gets tossed around like a salad.
Some people simply mod their car for looks (ricer look / Euro look) whatever fits their budget and taste. Others look for the power mods (if any) and those are usually the ones that tend to get quite offended when their 190 HP is challenged by a 215 HP stocker. Oh boy... to al the boy racers, get on with life, and if you want to race, buy a C63 and go get on a track !!

Read this thread so I don't have to repeat myself. People should also read & digest before replying with half the story. I did not know what "rice" meant in this context until I joined the forum a few months back.

I'm just reflecting other peoples comments & attitudes on the forum that amuse me. I have great affinity with the Asian nations & have many, many, fine Asian friends from working in Asia for many years. People on the forum complain that their car is built in South Africa, Vietnam or Brasil or wherever & not in Germany & then they fit all sorts of Asian accessories. Why - because they are cheap!
