The Best of Mercedes & AMG
In the end, I got the parking brake, brake, and clutch pedals on. I was a little paranoid about drilling into them, but I got them all on after a while. Interesting thing: did you know that the entire clutch pedal assembly (that is, clutch pedal and arm coming down to pedal) is plastic? I thought that was really weird, and kind of cheap.
Anyway, I went to take the gas pedal off. It was weird - the rubber on the pad went entirely around the pedal, and the pedal is part of a closed loop. I couldn't figure out how to easily unhinge the pedal assembly, so I had to end up cutting through the rubber on the cover to do it.
Then I looked at the Brabus pedal, and it's a little wider than the pedal that it gets attached to. The holes for the screws are right on the edge of the backing pedal. So, I didn't install it - want to call Brabus, and make sure that I'm doing it correctly - this pedal is plastic as well, and if I install it incorrectly, the whole damn thing could easily crack, and that would be a bad thing.
Sorry about the length of this message, but I do have a question: has anyone installed the Brabus pedals on their cars? If so, please post how the gas pedal install went for you. TIA, and I'll have pics up when the gas pedal is up and running.
Can you believe the no instructions thing? I was appalled! I'm going to start to just look at typical tuner shop dead pedals, and see if there are any that are a little smaller than usual, and somewhat classy.
)i'm getting the evolution mats... in charcoal as i got light grey mats from the dealer. the dead pedal flap is good enough for me.
Or maybe I should spend $50 and have someone install for me?!
One funny thing: I was having a b1tch of a time with the interior parking brake bolt (only two on it), until I remembered that I can release it, and it'll come up enough to make the install easier. As Homer would say, DOH!
You should be able to do this stuff yourself, as long as you have enough patience and time. I'll post how well the gas pedal goes in tomorrow. If you're afraid of *******g them up, getting the pedals put on shouldn't cost you much.
I've got the pins on order as well, and a Renntech knob is incoming from the Fatherland. Both of these are really simple, and you would definitely be wasting money to have them installed by someone else. The Brabus shift knob is really nice, though a little expensive. Have you thought about the steering wheel? It's $850, which isn't that much, and is a little smaller than stock, but the rim is much fatter - I'm thinking about it. Too much stuff, and too little money.
As for the pedals, I think I'll wait for yr outcome first.

no, really, I think that the 3.2kompressor is the best engine for the c-coupe, the V8 will just be impossible to get the power down, nearly impossible to keep traction under power. the C32 engine is a much better fit... perfect competition for the M Coupe from Munich?
In a word ..... AWSOME ..... the sound was amazing .....
Still had standard ESP so traction was no problem. Without the strips vents cut in the hood, you wouldn't pick it (remove tell-tale V8 badges of course) untill the lights went green.....Yeha......
Also there is a British mag called Mercedes Enthusist (only just out, ISSN 1474-7030) that has a feature on the C220 CDi coupe and the CV8 in it, Issue 3, January 2002.
For a little over $200 with tax, they were alot, but I like them alot more than the standard C7 pedals, especially when you realize that the C7s just slip off, which was disappointing. Door pins coming, then I should be done all of the overpriced Brabus crap until I finally take the plunge on the steering wheel, whenever that will be.
hell an upsolute chip is only a 150 bucks more
