Oh I mean, can I use Iridium IX for my car or should I just stick with MB plugs standard?

NGK Iridium plugs & Bosch OE plugs are equal IMHO - many, many people run Iridium plugs on this forum - your choice - all will be fine

You should really interrogate the data with a scanner & I guess if the misfires only take place when the vehicle is cold you could use it a little but not ideal. It's likely plugs, wires coils in that order.

Other possibilities are fuel starvation due to clogged filter or pump getting lazy or injectors. Most likely ignition/electrical. What mileage has the car done? what mileage on the FF?

thx. i cleared the codes yesterday and drove to church, dim sum, fly some kites, and home.. no check engine light yet.. ran pretty smooth, it was odd because i started using my A/C the other day when it misfired..

i am going to get some plugs, wires and coils tomorrow..

my car is goin on 158k right now.. not sure about the FF, probably will change that soon..
starting to get the Hang of DYI .. tired of getting raped. heh

Yeah - at that mileage likely plugs & wires will fix - Maybe coils. On the 240 I've seen coils go a hell of a long way but I've seen a few fail at over a 100K

Hello,

Can anyone help me out? I'm trying to test the MAP sensor. I'm using an ohmmeter and would like to know how to use that ohmmeter. I'm using DC, I would imagine? Where does the black wire and red wire come from? There are the 3 separate plugs on the ohmmeter, the 10ADC, the VmA and the COM. Anyone? I'm just trying to figure out the settings... Thank you.

Thanks guys for have this huge conversation online. It makes me feel some relief first that I'm not alone all that peculiar.

I just got Mercedes C240 4Matic with around 138k mileage with no service records the car looks really attractive but vibrates from start, emits black smoke for the first few seconds after start, becomes very sluggish when you brake and try to take off again and the fuel consumption is crazily high.

I have scanned with OBD and took screenshots of the faults detected (see attached). I have also taken the screen shots of the conversations and will go and work it out with my friend because he's more experienced with Mercedes and I'll also learn to do it my self in the process BUT I'LL REALLY BE GLAD TO GET ADVICE ON HOW TO HANDLE THE ISSUES WITH MY CAR.

Thanks in advance.

What you are really trying to do here is simply isolate where your problem is. What I would do now is clear all those codes then start the car again and read the codes after they are cleared. This should give you a good idea of where the immediate issues are so you can resolve them. It very much sounds like a bad coil pack or spark plug. Swapping the coil pack from one side to the other then reading the codes again will let you know if the coil is bad or the plug is bad. Youll have to reset the codes each time you swap the coil pack so you can figure out if the same cylinder mis fires or a different one. If its a different one that misfires then you know the coil pack is bad. Btw changing the plugs on this motor is a total pita when you get to the ones on the back side of the engine lol.

Was the MAF the problem? My car is having misfires on 1 though 3 and dumping the gas into the engine block.

Try swapping the spark plug wires with a good firing cylinder and see if the codes move to that cylinder. If so, replace wires. This wires are notorious for corrosion. Also check the wire and coil pins for corrosion.
