Cory, just curious, is this CARB approved? (not that it matters that much, like anyone around here worries about that. I passed, no idea if my header is approved or not. My emissions were low, as are yours likely to be)

No, not CARB approved. I've yet to see a header that removes the factory primary cat get CARB certification- just not gonna happen....

Just about ANYTHING you do to your car technically is considered illegal if it didn't come from the factory that way, and you want to drive it on the road. Sway bars, spring, engine components...
The trick is, will anyone (like police or Ins. co) notice it and make you put it stock?
So, you just need to not be tooo obvious or push things too far.
I passed smog, and in fact the guy stated, that my emissions were below normal.

I would bet that as the Kleeman header has a Cat just like the stock one, you would be fine as far as the
actual readings.
Your smog guy may, or may not ask if you have the header has a CARB cert.
He may not notice that it's not the stock part, he'll just check to make sure the 2nd cat is there.

But that isnt a M271 engine.... by the M271 Engine you will see it, but only if you know the difference. Otherwise you think it's stock!!

When I was in the Marine Corps (not too long ago), if your car is registered in your home state (in your case hopefully not Cali), the emissions go by the home state. They can't test you.

Edit: Ask some guys in your unit who were stationed in Cali if they tested everyone or not.

hint hint....the point isn't what engine.
You missed the point. This stayed on just long enough...likely the aluminum clip that held it in place would melt under normal conditions. Like I said, my emissions were low.

Nope, $649 is the "bargain basement" price- I can't see them going any lower than that- it's a pretty screaming deal.

 

Correct. You will almost certainly fail the visual inspection, which means you fail the entire emissions test.

 

For sure! The stock manifold is a joke- VERY poorly designed from a flow standpoint. 20 HP improvement even with a stock exhaust system.

 

No. SuperSprint makes a really nice header for the M111 engine- be prepared to pay top dollar for it though....
