billbugger mods thread
So I finally started doing some mods to my car.
2 mods so far:
1. Tinted the windows to 20% limo all around.
2. Changed out the dome lights to red.
See attachments for pics.
Sorry for the poor quality, it was taken with my phone.

I'm thinking the following kinda in order:
- White star badge (hopefully he'll still have some by next paycheck) painted black except for the star.
- CL Grille
- Tien Coilovers
- Wheels/tires. Something similar to yeuchau's rims Only, I'm thinking about covering the chrome lip with vinyl to match the 'pewter' color of my car. I mainly want some rims that i can replace the center cap with a MB cap.

The picture above doesn't do it justice as the picture was taken with my iPhone and there is no flash, etc. It's brighter then i thought it would be and it makes the inside ambiance look real nice at night.

I was reading your mods list in your sig.
You blacked out your chrome?
Do you have any other pics of your car so i can see what it looks like?
I'm thinking 1 of 2 options. Either blacking out the chrome trim, etc. Or color matching it with the Pewter color.

For the dome lights did you just pop in red bulbs? Where did you get them? How much? What part number? Sorry for all the questions, but I've always thought about adding this...

In my opinion, I would go with Pewter color matched, unless you decide to get black wheels or something. I think it might look a little out of place unless its tied in more...

I got the lights at an Advanced Auto. The front and back dome lights are the same bulb and the 2 reading lamps are the same as well.
The lights come in a package with 2 lights in them, so i but one package with the dome lights and one with the reading lights.
The total was $6.44 for both sets of lights!
The reading lamps are a little tricky to get to. I made the mistake of trying to remove the clear lense of one of the reading lamps and scratched the plastic a little bit before i figured out how to get to them.
Here's how you do it:
- Remove the cover and light from the front dome.
- In there you will see to 'knobs'(?) they move horizontally. Slide them and the whole top console should come out.
- You can access the reading lights from the top (inside) of it.

I like the wheels your going to put and the Tien, thats good stuff..
Im planning to get a 05 c230kI4, or 06c230 v6, both are 6MT, white,
But im still debating what car to get the 05 or 06.. i heard the 05 sounds better with eisenmann exhaust. and il be putting Tien too. 06 is more solid ride, a little slower pick up from 05. both are about the just the same price and same miles. its a hard choice.
Been trying to keep up on the readings, one side says 05 c230k, but other side says c230 v6.... Either one, is way slow then my 350Z that i had. Just getting theC230 for the looks.

Bill, thanks for the info on the lights. I'm probably just gonna do the dome lights and keep the reading ones white. I occasionally have to actually read something in the car, and I don't think I could do that in "submarine attack mode"

Yeah, what he said. Of course we are partial to the 05 model, but drive them back to back and you will see why the 05 is better. Given, I bought mine back in Dec. of 2004, so I didn't have a choice. But when the 06s came out and I got one as a loaner, I was happy I got the 05. IMO the 06 is too mushy and just not as "zippy". Yeah and the gas mileage is awesome on the 05s, especially in the times we're in now...

Dome Lights
Attached is a picture i just took in a garage with my phone, so sorry if their blurry.
These are the OEM domelights i took out and replaced. The replaced ones look exactly like these.
They had different colors in the store for each of them.
Reading Lights: 12 volts 5 watts
