C230 Cloth Seats

I am still trying to decide on options for a new C230 and would like to know how the cheapskates (like me) feel about their cloth seats. Thanks

i like the quality but i don't like the pattern. on the oyster, its not so bad, but on charcoal, it reallys stands out. i don't like the pattern on the aluminum trim either.

i agree with you on the pattern of the aluminum, but if it was just brushed aluminum, with no pattern it wouldnt wear very well.... for example, my v60c, brushed aluminum, has some minor scratches and shows fingerprints really easily. the pattern hides wear well.

the cloth seat pattern, well thats just wrong.

I have leather in the car I have now, but cloth in the first coupe I had. I thought it was quite good. I didn't mind the pattern.

heh, as i tell people when they get the all aluminum clad refrigerator, 'i hope you get to like the fingerprint aesthetic.'

i've seen the 'sport' trim package that the sedans get and that pattern looks pretty good to me.

seriously though, i am willing to give up some comfort for a more spiritual pleasure.

I personally didn't care for my oyster cloth, it stained quite quickly from normal wear and tear, I didn't eat in the car. I did change out to aftermarket leather (oops did I just leave stock?) anyway I think the charcoal cloth looks decent. I am a fan of dark interiors though.

I'm with Benzo

When I dropped my pizza on the driver's seat, I got a stain that's still there a little. I can only imagine what it would have looked like with an oyster cloth seat.

Of course, I'm getting aftermarket leather next month, so you can figure how much I'm not really in love with the pattern of the cloth.

I really like the patterned aluminum, but it looks like I might be in the minority on this one. It hides fingerprints and dust well, which is important to me, as I'm a little lax in the detailing area.

2002 C230 coupe
I ordered my car with Oyster cloth. My impression of the car with cloth upholstery is that the interior still projects an overall sense of quality. For me personally, there was not a big enough increase in the look and feel of quality with the leather to justify the difference in price. One reason I chose the Oyster color was because the contrast in color between the solid and the print with the charcoal made the print pattern stand out too much for my taste.

I have the black cloth, the quality is good, but the pattern sucks. Hopefully that will soon change.

I agree with you Tommy I like the aluminum. Although after some research I am finding no one makes a pattern match for that aluminum in a dash kit. So I may be stuck ordering replacement wood from the dealer to match the 4 Door cars then ordering a dash kit in wood. I am thinking that the wood might look good anway with my black and tan leather. Not sure yet.
