I have an extensive spreadsheet of gas mileage figures of my car since I bought it, almost 40K miles, and I have seen very little, to NO difference in mileage between C and S mode. This is for 80-90% highway miles though. I would imagine there may be a difference between the 2 modes in city driving, but I can't quantify that. Take note, that this is in my 07 which has the 7G transmission, so maybe that is the difference.

3) If stopped uphill, in C it actually holds the car for you if you release the brake! The car will roll backwards if you do the same thing in S.

Personally I use C/W all the time. S is quite useless other than for wasting gas.
#3 is not true. s mode will also prevent the car from rolling backwards.

Dunno but your car, but for 2003 this is the case. But you have to try it on a STEEP hill. S doesn't hold as hard as W/C. For 80% of the hills out there, there's no difference.

Well I can say I love the experiences and advice on this board.
I drive in traffic everyday home and read that C makes it more bearable and putting it in C does make it more "comfort".
Car doesnt jump forward releasing the brake and going a block before hitting traffic doesnt make the car shift up about 3 gears then down making a strange ride. C just kind of coasts while in traffic.

true, there might be a difference because i was on a VERY steep hill few hours ago on s mode during rush hour traffic.
i prefer c for smoother driving esp. during rush hour traffic here in LA, but love s for more aggressive handling.

Older models had W/S instead of C/S.
