HOME LINK
Haven't seen this discussed before . . . but recently (as in the day before Christmas) moved into a new house that has a garage door opener and the neighborhood is gated. The builder gave me two different remotes, one to operate each device.
Followed the instructions for the Home Link system in the owners manual, and the button for the garage door works fine.
However, the problem is with the remote for the neighborhood gates. It gets to the point where the light flashes slowly, but it will never flash rapidly (meaning the Home Link system linked up to the remote for the gate). I had to stop by the MB dealer for something else and mentioned this problem to him. His only reply (and this is the service manager) was that "it sometimes happens."
I am going to call the association mangement tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Do you know if the gate is using rolling codes? I don't quite remember the setup, but with rolling codes I think there is a button you press on the gate receiver before pressing the one on the home link and it syncs them up... really not too sure though.

Had this problem at my old place, where the parkade door opener used a frequency out of the range that homelink can connect to.
From the homelink web site (www.homelink.com):
"HomeLink is compatible with radio-frequency devices operating between 288 and 399 MHz (exclusive of the restricted 322-335 MHz range). Select 2007 and newer vehicles are compatible up to 433 MHz (exclusive of the restricted 400-410 MHz range). Please contact us by email or phone (1-800-355-3515) to verify vehicle compatibility."

I second this theory. I had to locate a button on my opener for it to sync with cars.

For rolling codes, you have to first train the homelink button with the remote.
Second, the receiver has to have a "learn" button.
Check your gate and see if you can find a "learn" button anywhere. If you find one, then you have to press that, then press and hold the button you trained on your car. The gate will then "learn" or pair with your transmitter.

There is a two step process for "cloning" the Home Link system to the remote. The second step is used if there is a rolling code, where you have to push the "learn" button on the gate. Unfortunately, I can't even get to that point.
The frequency on the back of the remote device says 318 MHz, so it doesn't look like that's a problem. I called the gate company to complain about it, and they just pretty much said "live with it." They said that if they issue a remote that works with my car, they would have to issue a new one to everybody else.
Maybe my next step is to contact neighbors to see who has Home Link and see if we can't get a minor revolt going
