C230 Kompressor oil leaks

Has anybody with a C230 K had a leaky head gasket? I just replaced a head gasket on an '02 C230 because it was leaking oil, the car only has 6,000 miles on it. It's highly unusual for any head gasket to leak so early, let alone the 230 engine, which is the most trouble-free engine of any current MB.

I have an leaky head gasket. They found the problem on Service B. The dealer has ordered the parts from Germany. My car has 16000km's. The MB tech told me the leak was from the rear of the engine. They never seen this problem on this engine before. They said mine was the first. My luck.

Forgot to ask mbtech, was it easy to change the gasket? The dealer told me they needed my car for 3 days for this service. Would my 2002 c230k be good as new again? Thanks.

This was actually the first time I've had the head off a 111 engine, it wasn't that difficult though. I was able to replace the head gasket in about 4 hours. I'm assuming they needed to keep your car because they were waiting for parts, not because it's a lengthy repair.

Hi mbtech208,

Sorry about the hijacking here.

Do you by chance have the new secret handshake for measuring the oil quantity for the 03 c-class? MB is telling my dealer its supposed to work. It does on every 03 except for the c-class. Could you independently verify and update this for us?

The other question I had is regarding the dipstick. What is the dipstick millimeter reading at the top of the tube when inserted into the V6? MB-BOB showed us where the tube is even so my dealer says it is for the tranny.

Thanx

It works on every other '03 model? Does it work the same way on all these models as it does on the '02 c-class?

If it's on every model, some of them must work differently because they don't all have steering wheel buttons, but I am curious about how it works on other cars. I will test it some.

I guess I should have been more specific here. MB says it works on all 03s. Dealer says it works on all 03s but the c-class.

I will test it some.
Any chance you could also provide the answer to my second question?

Thanx for your help.

No, I could experiment, but I don't know how to do it, and I don't think anyone else in the dealer knows. Even the shop foreman didn't know that you could do that in my car. I could mess around with one and try to figure it out, but I'm sure you've already done that to yours.

Also, I will try it on some other cars to see if it works the same way. But some cars like the SLK and ML don't have steering wheel buttons, so they would have to work differently if they were to have this feature at all. I'm going to work soon, so I'll try to do some testing and report back tonight.
