The MB lube for the sunroof is A0009893660 it is identified as "Special Sliding Compound; lubrication oil"

MB also has a Glass, Metal, Plastic, Paint Cleaner to clean the rubber before the lubrication is applied. A0059891971

Do you have a photo of the area you had to clean?

Resync instructions can be found on the owners manual...
http://pdfservicemanual.com/tag/mercedes-benz-w203
...on page 230

I will give this another try and then its off the the [non-Mercedes] dealer for some warranty work.

FIXED!!! so far

I did the resync again, I must have done something wrong last time, and its fine now.

For anyone seeking clarification on how to resync; follow the instructions exactly as in the manual link I posted above.

When I did it last night, I didnt have the engine running and the door may have been open. This time I turned on the engine, closed all doors and wholla!

There should be something obstructing the tracks, have it checked. If nothing shows up, try re-sync it, if it doesn't work as well, then bring it to the closest indie..

Same issue occurring once again. Didn't take long.

I put it down to an electrical fault and not the mechanism. The sunroof closes fine when using the feature on the smart-key, but won't operate correctly when using the inside control.

Well, looks like its fine again. The [non MB] dealer sprayed some Wurth saBesto HSS 2000 to lubricate the sliders and its works a treat again. I asked him if its safe to put whatever this stuff is on rubber and if it will rust/damage the area. He says its all good. See how it goes from here. The dealer mechanic indicated this lube should be good for a long while now.

Thanks MBWorld, without your input, the car may have been booked in for a while. But because of advice from here; I went to the dealer, asked if they can lube the sliders before checking the sensor and I was out of there in 5 mins.
