Talking Newbie

Sooooooo, I finally got rid of my old car, Crossfire SRT-6, for something more practical. Loving the benz... not near as fun to drive, but come-on ITS A BENZ no less!

Anyway, just wanted to share a few pics with the new grill/side markers on and ask a question:

I have about 22k miles on her, and the tires are getting bald. When I replace the tires I’m gonna go ahead and do the rims also (only makes since, right?!?) and wanted to know if anyone had the Mandrus Mannheim on their C. I don’t want chrome or black, and these seem about as good as it gets for the money - Discount quoted me $2100 out the door for wheels, rubber (BFG G-Force, had them on the SRT and loved them) and warrantee. Any opinions?

OK - question #2... when I went to "manage attachments" and tried to upload the pics I got this message:
Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

What is this about??

Not sure if they'll fit. The 2005+ cars have fixed piston brake calipers and a lot of wheels, even those of proper offset, will have problems clearing the calipers.

Thats exactly what I said, and the dude at Discount guaranteed they would fit. Is there any measurement that would tell one way or the other?

I would just make it very clear that if he orders them and they don't go on the car, you aren't charged for the wheels+tires.

Well, you could've picked up a C32 with the same engine...
practical AND fast.
As far as the attachment issue, I've had that too...
something weird going on lately with the site.

I wish the C32 would have been in the budget, they basically gave away my 07. I park next to a 2006 C32 every day at work (I feel there is a mutual non-door ding respect). What a sweet ride!

Those are stunningly good looking wheels. Yes, you can certainly measure the required brake caliper clearance.

Simply remove one of your front wheels and place a straight edge across the plane of the bolt circle. You will need to measure how high the caliper sits above this plane. Then you will need to measure the minimum and maximum distances of the caliper from the hub center.

Unfortunately, I don't think you will find these measurements published for the replacement wheels you are considering. Only the size, the bolt circle, and the offset are published for most aftermarket wheels.

So you will probably have to order the rims and measure these dimensions for yourself. It is easier to just try one on your front hub and see if it clears.

Therefore, as others have stated, be sure there is a money-back guarantee before ordering the rim/tire combination.
