heated/electric seats

I love all the options I got on my car but what I really regret is not getting the heated and electric seat options. Especially now in the winter, it's so cold in the mornings.

Does anyone know how or if it is possible to install these options into the car now?? I know that it would be expensive but I think it would be worth it. I read somewhere that somebody installed the heated seats into his w202... Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.:p

Heat from the heated seats are supplied by heat pads. I think its "possible" to slide a heat pad under your seat cover and connect some wires and switches. But who knows how complex the whole job will be? Maybe you can ask the parts dept and see what they say.

A friend of mine used to add aftermarket seat heating to cars, with and without leather seats. The result was surprisingly professional looking , so I would say it's definitely possible.

I don't know if it would be worth the trouble and cost. Just wear warmer clothes and for your next vehicle make sure you order heated seats.

Unless the cost was extremely expensive, I would try it. That's the one option on this car I am very happy about getting....

C230/ B. Silver/Leather
I went to one after market installer (reccomended by my dealer) who would not take the job. He said the leather seats were too tight, the heating pad would be difficult to fit, and the result would not look good. The after market pads are fine with loose fitting leather but not our Mercedes. Cost for a normal intall was about $400.

Sorry but I love my heated seats and power seats. I would not buy the car without them. My wife suggested the heated seats and the dealer of course found a car exactly how we wanted it. They are nice on the cold days though, so if you can get it added I suggest you do.

It's in the single digits here in NH and I'm not sorry I didn't get heated seats. The interior and the seats heat up very fast on my car....

that would require a lot of work. wiring and all that. easier solution would be just to get a wool seat cover. Might look funny but it works.

damn you, its been between -15C and -30C with the windchill here lately... and I almost didn't get the heated seats... sure glad I did now!

If there was a remote starter option I would never think of getting heated seats, but without that option this is the next best thing.

I have often wondered if heated seats prematurely age leather surfaces. Having an electric heating element under leather would warm the leather and cause it to evaporate any essential oils. This in turn would lead to increased susceptibility to cracking. Can anyone dispute this reasoning ? Unless you are super fanatic about keeping your leather seats cleaned and conditioned I think that heated seats will show age really fast.

Heated seats are a necessity in combination with leather in most parts of the world...
The older MB were easier to upgrade with the heated seat system...the newer MB (ever since the W210) requires a swap of the complete leather (due to a changed heated element that comes together with the leather/cloth nowadays.
I recently added heated "seats" (elements) in a US W210 (and will add heated "seats" in another US W210 soon) with the help of cheaper W202 heated paddings...

I don't think the 202 paddings will work for the 203 because the seats have different sections. Both 202 and 210 seats look pretty much similar...the 203 seat is different...
