Vinyl banners?
Hey folks,
What do you think of putting a color matched strip of vinyl on the upper windshield and the upper rear window on the C-Coupe, you know, where it is black at the top? I'm thinking of putting a solid one on the rear, and MAYBE a solid one on the front, or maybe one that say's "C-Coupe" or "KOMPRESSOR" on the front. I know they look tacky on some cars, but just looking for your input. I don't want to do anything that would REALLY spoil the look of the car. Any ideas?
Ed

i have seen vinyl window banners with brabus, and lorinsor on it, and i think they look really out of place on a car as understated as a mercedes.

I got the car at Millenium Auto Group in Bridgewater, Nj. As far as the flaming goes, I expected to get a reply like vadim's. I can understand how some people feel a certain brand is a sacred cow and is not to be messed with in any shape or form, even if they're not paying for the car. That kind of closed-mindedness is typical of the elitist that thinks just because they drive a certain brand of car they are automagically better than the "underlings". But thanks for your input, vadim. I'll put a check in the "NO" column for you.

i have yet to see an orion coupe in person and want to see what all the hoopla is about
btw, i am a check in the no column as well for the vinyl.
good use of vinyl:
carlsson race car
bad use of vinyl:
any non race/sponsored car

Actually, I'm planning on attending the Upsolute chip tuning event on the 26th in Bayville, NJ. I think a couple of other members made mention of going as well.
I'm leaning towards the "NO" on the vinyl, too. It was just a thought that I had :p .

I think it would look tacky to put "Kompressor" or "C-Coupe" in the upper part of the windshield, mostly because I think it would detract from the grill and headlights, which on the C-Class are extremely cool. Just my opinion.

1991 mr2 turbo, 2002 coupe
That was rude of me- congrats on your new car, welcome, and nice color choice (my 2nd)- definitely will be less common.
C230/6speed/orion/C7/changer - just built!
91 mr2 turbo - was polluted with stickers - everywhere but I saved her.

"Compressor Power for the SLK Racing Roadster
Carlsson starts the 24 h NŸrburgring race with a 400 hp engine
Racing is the ultimate in tuning. Nowhere else do you acquire knowledge so quickly and so precisely as in the racing world. To gain this knowledge for the development of Carlsson products, as well as for the sheer love of the sport, Carlsson has taken part in the most demanding touring class race in the world for many years now. The successes of the past few years have encouraged the Carlsson Team to take part again in 2002 with an SLK with a CM32 K compressor engine. 400 PS (294 kW) and 480 Nm torque are to put the Carlsson SLK amongst the TOP TEN of the 210 car strong field. "
so to answer your question, yes that is a real race car, and its one of the coolest looking slks i have ever seen
check out their ml 430, from tha dakar rally:
the more i read about carlsson the more i am tempted to so my whole car exclusively through them.

NJPaprika, I don't care much for vinyl windshield strips, and I think they would be especially funky on a car with the Panarama roof.
young, those large blue lights are used for docking that shuttle craft with the mother ship.

at first, i thought the lights were purely for looks - just crazy, and then in greg's pic of the SLK - the same lights! (but yellow). that made me wonder if it actually served some purpose.

Young, those lights under the bumper of that Hyundai Elantra GLS can serve one of three purposes:
1) Rock Magnets... provides an excuse to change color of the lights three times a year.
2) Docking ports for the Coffee-Can exhausts of the Honda Civic it follows... Since the jap cars continue to outsell the Korean cars, Hyundai is just paying homage...
3) Rally lights for Hyundai's expanded WRC entry in 2002 (although I thought this would be on the Tiburon chassis).
NJPaprika, that big Tri-star in the grill and hot paprika paint (I like!) speak for you. I vote no on the vinyl... there's just no need, really.
