M271 header special...again!
#202
just installed mine last week, pics
tks again cory for all your help . here are some pics.. I wrap my header with thermo copper tape. I only did this because my catalytic converter was deleted. The inside was hollowed out. hope you like pics. Other pics is an external trans oil cooler. To bypass radiator for any water problem leaks. up to 20* cooler , provides better shifts, and longer life of trans.

hey hey!
got the headers put on my car today. My car is all stock plus these headers now. Car is definitely louder, only when u push it though. Just the way I wanted it. You can hear the air flowing more freely through the pipes. Good investment.
Performance wise: I dont know how accurate the measure is but I did a rolling start 20-60 before I got the headers on and it came to 7.2 sec. Then I did another run but this time with manual shifting and then there was a little bit of downhill and it came in at 6.8 sec.
Now after putting on the headers i tried two runs on a flat surface both in full automatic and the times were: 6.4 sec and 6.5 sec![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

Is the deal still going on for this header and is there any tuning require after installing the header? Im thinking about getting this header and the get the pully and tune package from eurocharged. Would this be a good match up?

I would never use a pulley ring, it's bound to be problematic in the long term. Kleemann had a ring like this at one time on the 2.3L motor and it's come lose for some people and for many it actually damaged the S/C. Don't know if that will happen on the M271 motor, but I wouldn't risk it.
Header option sounds good, but I would imagine you need to couple that with a cat back exhaust to take advantage of it all.

ADVICE: for all who have kleemann headers + cat combo
I just had to replace my O2 sensor downstream of my Cat ($350 parts/labor) today.
I have the kleeman headers, cat, and remus exhaust with NO ecu tune to accommodate these upgrades.
The shop I went to (who I trust), told me that I'm running rich and that if I don't get a tune, that my other sensors will go bad too. Therefore, I contacted LET tuning and am scheduling a dyno asap. its important to note that i've had these headers since april 2009 and have driven this car daily.
I recommend this to others so that they won't have to incur the same miscellaneous costs. The dyno will be expensive, but at least its better to put money towards that and maximize my performance while preventing further sensor damaging.
I will get this done this month and will post results for all of you who are interested.
cheers

KLEEMANN USA would like to announce a special on M271 headers for MBWorld members only. From now, until the end of March, all MBWorld members who reside in North America can purchase the KLEEMANN header for the unbelievably low price of $649.00 plus shipping. The header includes a down pipe with high-flow catalyst, factory exhaust gasket, new manifold nuts, flange hardware, and clamp. Installation is right around 2 hours, and no welding is required- simply cut your factory down pipe, and the KLEEMANN pipe clamps onto your stock pipe. Any questions, please email me- cory@kleemannusa.com or give me a call at 719.473.6441. To place an order, please call. The headers are in stock and ready to ship.

If you put headers on you need to do a stage 2 tune to get anything out of it besides a CEL and sound. Also unless you have a c180 or a c200 m271 or a 2.3 engine a pulley system on a m271 1.8 c230 hits the point of diminishing returns on the boost it can provide thats why kleenman only offers it on c180, c200, 2.3 ltr.
