HID light setting set to "present "did not work

I had the dealer change the Xenon(HID) setting to present with the DAS tool. The lights did not work and would not come on. Has anyone had any experience with this

BrabusCClass (or another fellow MBworld-er on the W203 forums with the name Brabus C something, forgot the exact name) mentioned he had problems with that before!

If they are retrofits, you will have to do a little bit of hackin', hard wiring your switch, PM BrabusCClass on how to do it.

If they are OEM's, they will work just fine.

Hardwire works fine. I did that at first. But I wanted to do it properly.

I'm afraid there is no other way, Jason (BrabusCClass) had explored this already. Does your VDO show a malfunction??

That's strange. Every other thread on this forum states it's possible. Wierd. Yes, when it's hardwired it says the left/right lower lamps are malfunctioning. Which is ok with me since the lights work fine. I just figured if I could set the HID settings to present, and then just wire it normally then that'd be the better route since there would be no error messages.

They are definately talking about aftermarket:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...s&pagenumber=1

This is just one of the many threads on the forums talking about HID settings for aftermarket hid's.

Nope... not the HIDs4less kit. I have the same exact kit as BrabusCClass. Talked to him on the phone earlier today. I'll figure something out.. Thanks for the input.

No worries. He's been very helpful and we're gonna meet up in SLO to see what we come up with if I can't figure it out by tommorow.

Hi,

You have a coupe right? It should work with the coupe and not with the sedan.... Perhaps the guy at the dealer didnt do the setting correctly?

Perhaps the hardwiring made it not work the same? Im not sure how you installed your, but for mine I just cut the halogen bulb wires... + and ground.. attached it to the ballast... velcroed the ballast to the fender well then ran the bulb wire/socked and cliped it in. Then it works without a problem.

Oh that plastic cap... i drilled a large hole in there so i can get wires through.. but someone else was smart and drilled 2 small holes for the wires.. makes the install much more clean

Hrmm strange.. if you will be in SLO tomorrow we can compare.

ohhhhhhhhh... perhaps you might have to turn off city lights (steering wheel control)

the halogens can fire with less power.. but the Xenons cant so then u might get bulb error there!

Has anyone else ordered the group buy kit, Kineda, and done the install? Maybe we should wait to see if this is just a problem with your car, or if this will plague all of us (which means, forget Xenons, I'm getting sills. :-) )

THis is the first problem with the coupe...with the dealer setting the computer to xenon present.

I turned off my day time running lights / city lights
perhaps that will help hehe
