Key Dependant Seat Settings on a C230K SC

My wife and my keys do not go to the correct seating position when we put our keys in. Dealer wants to look at it if I can't figure it out. I re-synched and all but the seat moves forward to about 2 inches shy of where it is supposed to be. Then I have to hit the memory button to get the rest of the way. The mirrors and wheel go fine as does the lowering of ther right hand mirror in reverse, but for some reason the darn seat stops just shy of being right. I am thinking that because we are both vertically challenged that there is a safety feature that keeps the seat from automatically going to far forward. As to not crush the tall person that use my wifes key to drive the car. Has anyone else had this problem.

I think I might have this problem too. We use the easy entry/exit feature. Works fine for me. But the seat won't move far enough forward for her after she gets in (she's 4'-11"). She has to press and hold the button. I had the dealer look into it and they foound no problem but, I don't think I explained the problem correctly.

That sounds right. The seat falls real short for my wife who is 5'2" and has it all the way up to be comfortable with the clutch. I am 5'7" and it falls an inch or two short for me. So I need to hold the button for about a second. I also am using the easy entry/exit feature. It seems that I read somewhere in the manual that the power seats had a safety feature as not to crush a tall person and all and that is why we have to hold the memory button down when we want to use it. My parents RX300 does not do this. They just hit the button and off it goes, none of this hold it crap. I am also irritated at the fact that my car is not even a week old and already a steering wheel button has cracked. Oh well.

I'm a bit shorter than you and the seat moves back to my preset location. But not my wife's. I'll play around and see if I can figure out some pattern.

i'm willing to bet that there is nothing wrong with your cars. it's probably a quirk or something you're overlooking or the system just simply isn't working right. i mean, it's not something that the dealership is gonna find wrong or be able to fix. do you know what i mean?

Just wondering -- does the seat move to the correct memory positions if you disable the easy exit feature? I don't have C1, but can't you defeat only the exit feature which moves the seat way back?

All I need to do is to hold the memory button for a second after all is doen and it goes to the preset position fine. Actually it is supposed to go to the last place it was, which is the memory one button. I did see in the manual that there was a safety feature and that is why you must hold the memory location button until the seat and everything else is in position. It stops if you let go. Maybe I just need to re-set all my settings and re-do them for my key. It is really no bother to me just an annoying thing.

Here is a pick of my car, dirty but a pic non the less.

Try resetting your memory position (at the doorside M switch) with the Smart Key in the ignition at position 2 (just short of starting the car), or with the car running (better). I seem to recall that the system will allow you to set the memory position at the doorside with just the key in the ignition (pos 0), but won't send the setting to the key in positon 0. Set it with the car running and see if that helps.

Also, you might try teaching the key other positions (not your's) just to see if the seat falls short at all settings, not just the settings you use.

My wife is 5'3" and her key runs the seat all the way to her position without fail.

Thanks MB-BOB. I do set the memeroy when the car is running or in position 2, maybe I need to do it with the door open since that is the only way to set it with the key at position 0. I am still going to play with it to see what the deal is.

Yeah Xeon I expected it to be a dark grey, but I am much happier that it looks like it does. Very nice color and the Bi-Xenons are nice and bright and have a clear beam that lights the ground up like it is daylight out. Very nice so far. I am very happy with her. And my 6 speed is awesome so I guess the isssues were fixed in the 2003 model.
