euro non-dimming mirror

i have recently ordered a left side euro mirror from ebay.de (germany) however i never realized until now that it is for right hand drive vehicles. therefore, i think it is non-dimming. will this still work in my car? are there any cables for the dimming?

The mirror will still work and give you that expanded field of vision. I believe that a special coating causes the dimming feature. Therefore it may not be anything that will required an electrical signal like the heating feature.

The autodimming feature does require electrical connections. It is controlled by the sensor in the interior rear view mirror, and the dimming is caused by varying the power supplied to the mirror.

People on Europe drive on the same side of the road as Americans.... except in the UK. Autodimming mirrors are optional in Europe and not standard and autodimming glass have COMPLETE DIFFERENT conponents as non autodimming glass. I'm afraid you bought yourself a non dimming mirror...

Learn something new everyday. Thanx for the correction. I was under the impression that it was some other process and not a master/slave type arrangement.

The sensor is the little black disk in the upper right corner of the mirror.

so i can't use it regardless? i would think the only different piece from the right side to the left would be an extra connector for the auto dimming. will it still work, despite not being able to auto dim?

If you can bolt it in and see yourself in it, then it will work. It's a mirror. And I doubt that it will give you an error message, but you'll have to try it and find out for yourself.

i bought the euro mirrors for both driver and passenger sides. the driver side one is definatley heavier and also the back of it has more clutter!

I believe it is some sort of liquid or chemical in the mirror. I have seen one of these with a crack in it before, and there was a line running down the side of the car where something had run out of the mirror. It was not very easy to remove, had to wax it off, so it's probably not too good for the paint.

You are completely right...there is an extreme sticky liquied inside the mirror that colors dark when it gets the (power)puls from the interior rearview mirror to dimm...

As said by Dave, european people drive on the same side of the road and dimming mirrors do not come standard on all cars.

If you install a non dimming mirrorglass in your car, you will NOT get an errorcode and yes it does fit without a single problem...it is JUST a mirror glass.

I updated all my 3 202 mirrors to auto dimming (convex shaped) mirrors and I rather have the auto dimming feature then the convex anti blind spot feature...but that is just me.
