Earliest FSS, Service A?

I read somewhere, I can't seem to find it now, that you can get your car serviced early and get a free service by the end of the warranty. What is the earliest the dealer will take a car for service A?

Thanks,
Erik

MY dealer told me only service the car when the FSS states less than 1K miles. I got my first at 9551 and the dealer told me that just over 8K is the earliest he has done.

My car sat on the dealer's lot for a year before I bought it and it said it needed service as it was delivered for me. So I brought it back a day later and got an "A" Service at 200 miles! No need to worry about those engine filings!

Apparently, the FSS also keys off the age of the oil. The build date of the car was Nov 2001 so I surmise they set it to 13 months or so from the build date to make sure the oil gets changed then or 10000 miles whichever is earliest.

My car was built in Oct 2001, and has 9300 miles. The FSS says 700 miles to service A. That will be sometime in March.

That's very strange... Maybe the computer also looks at #miles driven per month or something. If you don't put on the miles, the oil decays, hence an early oil change?? Well, I might ask the tech about it next time I bring it in - I still need to get the steering wheel aligned.

This is a dealer dependent thing.

Some will do it at 8000 miles, others won't until the FSS says that it is time.

I think you have to leave the Canadians out of the question, as they pay out-of-pocket for their service A, I imagine they can get them done whenever they want.

Cheers, BT

I'm curious: since the car, in the US, is covered for 48k miles, what will it be after service B? Will it be A, B, then back to A, B, A, B until the warranty expires, or just the first A & B are covered, and then we need to pay for the future services?

It's supposed to be A, B, A, B, etc. All are "free" until the warranty period expires.

Weird, I got an "A" at 200 miles now it says 9000 miles left for the next "A". So I suppose I'm on the A A B route.

I wonder if it's because your car sat for so long on a lot, and got the 200 mile "A," due to the age of the oil in the crankcase, as opposed to a mileage based "A."

So if I buy the extended warranty, all services will be free up to 100,000 miles? This is a steal considering each service alone costs more than $100!

Extended warranty doesn't include the services. Although, considering how cheap it really is to do the services, including them would certainly help sell more extended warranties.
