As an example a reasonable secondhand C55 in ROW fetches 40,000 US$ - what would it fetch in the US?

Yeah - I'm afraid a new W204 C63 is now 77,000 USD full house here now!

On the Merc it might also be working for you because of the weight in the nose allows a wider tyre where the reverse applies to Porsche.
yeah i went from the stock 225 front and 245 rears to 235's all around. as for tires, you said they suck..lol. I went from dunlops to general exclaims. When i went into the canyons, i can feel lot of the stress was on the front tires on the turns. Frankw was following behind me and said he say smoke coming out from the front tires.

Which is really what I was saying. Each luxury marque caters to its own overall niche - BMW and Audi more to people who like to drive hard, and MB and Jag to those who want more of a balance. Which does show up in the age discrepancies. Obviously, comparing non-luxury marques to MB doesn't make much sense as far as my original comparison goes, due to other variables.

BMW values in Thailand suck too....almost 30% cheaper than a comparable MB.

BTW, asian people worship the 3-point star more than the blue&white fan...that's part of the reasons why all BMWs are cheaper!

Yes, that is why most of the wealthy people in Asia drive a Benz and buy them at 30% higher than regular price. Those who have both brand usually have one bimmer and three other benzes...

To address the OP, an average Benz is a heavy pig. Same for most BMW models. I have to agree with GLN, A Benz is a much more thoughtful car and they age very very well. BMW,Audi, and the Asian cars do not have the appeal that a Mercedes has - as one learns to appreciate the various compramises that auto makers make to get market share. I think an 83 SD(126) turbo diesel is an amazing car. I also thrash the ***** off of my 73 911S and get a rush like nothing made today can give. A sport sedan is the quintesential "compramise".
