nice car. nice setting! look at those shiny tires..
as you post, you see the http button - used for links to other places. but if you want to post pics in the message, use the IMG button. basically, it just adds the tags which you could do manually too. if you want, you can edit your post, change the url /url tags to img /img

Nice pic, Deb. The setting is wonderful, and the indirect lighting on the side of the car looks great.

More pics

I'm editing to post the images here. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting so many. This is all unless someone wants more. It's a great car. Moderators, please note, if I've overdone it with the pics, I won't be offended if you need to delete these.

Thanks, Young,
I'm one of those highly educated, but technologically challenged folks. To paraphrase Tommy, I drive in the left lane of the Info Super Hiway with blinkers on...

Deb,
do you have any more pics of the interior? I'm interested in seeing the factory leather (seats & doors). All C230's I have seen so far are cloth.

more pics

Sure, KWiK. The charcoal leather is darker than it shows here. The camera that I was using seems not to produce good resolution. And the color varies considerably with lighting. The leather quite dark grey, but I do not find that a problem with heat, much to my surprise, living in S. Fla. Ok, I'll try again with the pics. Thanks, Young. It worked!

it looks like you have 2 different cars with those pics, the first set charcoal and orion, and the last pic, oyster and orion. You need a new digital camera

Chameleon car

Greg, actually the camera is new. Maybe it needs a new photographer... This car is a little spooky in that even to my eye it changes color depending on the light, even the leather looks dark or lighter. Go figure. I've seen the oyster and it is quite light, sort of beige. I think that one pic with the charcoal leather looking lighter is overexposed somehow. I had the camera in the temp controlled armrest bin with the a/c on and it took several minutes to warm up enough for an image to even show on the screen. This with outside temp of 80F. Maybe that was a factor.

I have a question, it appears you have manual seats yet you have some sort of crank knob on the drivers seat ahead of the height adjustment. I have the manual seat also but don't have the knob. I wonder if it's something that comes with the leather???

seat crank

Hi Benzomonterey,
That wheel tilts the seat bottom front up or down effectively raising or lowering one's knee level. The other knobs you must know.

What? You don't have *the* knob? :p I don't know how you can live with being knob-impaired. Could it be that this is a special feature for Orion blue cars?

Hmm something I need to check into. I guess it's a feature with the factory leather seats.

Deb, great car!
Orion Blue is nice, isn't it? (I'm probably going to get massively flamed for that...but it's all good.)

How do you like the panorama roof? Nice bird's-eye viw pic, by the way!

Photographic exposure explanation...

Greg and Deb, most likely, there's nothing wrong with Deb's camera. All photographic exposure meters are calibrated for what is called "18 percent gray", which is correct for most average-toned objects in our world. This is a reference to the amount of light reflected off an average-toned object. When you take a picture of a very bright or very dark object, the resulting exposure will probably not look right because the camera is fooled by assuming you're taking a picture of an average-toned object. To adjust for this, most automatic exposure cameras include a control called the "exposure compensation" adjustment. Using this, you can override the camera's judgment if you know the object is light or dark. For a light object, you add exposure (1-2 stops), and for a dark object, you reduce exposure (1-2 stops).

Now, many sophisticated cameras break the image into several segments to improve exposure. If you look at Deb's first exposure of the interior, with the ocean and sky throught the window, you'll see that the exposure is perfect for the view through the window, and the interior is rather dark, almost true color. Her second shot looks like it was much more shady, since I see a green tree or bush through the window. In this case, the interior of the car was the major part of the image and the camera exposed accordingly which resulted in a too-light exposure. However, even though the color is too light, it lets you pick up additional details like the stitching pattern that you might not be able to discern if the exposure had been correct. Hope this helps!

benzo, i just checked my seats (on the way home) and it has the little wheel... i don't know why you don't have it unless the leather guys took it off and didn't put it back on.

Christopher, yeah, it's a great car. I love the panoramic roof. If all the moving parts hold up over the long term, it will be a winner.

MarkL, thanks for the explanation. I am still much more comfortable with my old SLR Nikons. The digital was borrowed from work with no instruction book, so I just pointed and shooted :p ...(pointed and shot just sounded so dumb)
But, having used the digital, I love it. Will get one of my own soon with more pixels or whatever it needs to improve resolution.
Deb

I hope you boys (an assumption on my part) found the missing knobs. Hate the thought of missing knobs. After 8 days of C230K ownership, I am still searching for just the right seat/steering wheel location. I think this is a hard car for shortish people to find the right driving position.

Don't you love it when women talk about their knobs?

I'm pretty sure that my car has the knob in front as well; I think that Benzo just didn't notice. That's my guess, at least.

lesson learned, take photos with even light distribution in both the fore and backgrounds.... or ..... pretend you have 2 different cars since you just couldnt deciede what interior to get

thanks for the info
