SC to clc conversion?

Hello to you all, last night looking for a rear difuser for my coupe I had a look at the one of the clc with the sport packeage. It came to my mind that if it is said that the clc is just a restyle of the old coupe because the base is the same. However I had the idea of adapting that difuser. Has someone thought about it? Can it be possible? I leave a photo for you all to have a look at it

I was asked by a few members of the forum to look into this & I'm still double checking because I don't know the Coupe like owners do.

So far it appears that the outer rear tail lights will fit, the bumper will fit, You need a new hatch to get other bits like the inner lights to fit. Once you start though there are all sorts of plastic fills you need. No one can tell me at the moment whether the bumper needs a new metal backing unit. Will keep trying.

Hey HellsAngel, Glyn - I can confirm that you can bolt on and wire in the CLC tails on a C Coupe. The "inside" shape is obviously off, because of the re-shaped rear hatch - hatch didn't fit perfectly, but that's really deceptive because of the way the "inside" of the CLC light is shaped - basically there's a bit of a bulge that the new hatch fits around that's not there on the older lights.

Didn't have a camera handy, unfortunately...

EDITED : 05 Reg, RHD C200k with tails from a 58 Reg CLC.

I told you you would require plastic fill pieces - It fits. You can't just do the lights or it won't line up with the hatch. Frank posted a great picture that showed the fit.

You really do all or nothing but it fit's. I knew you buggers would give me a hard time so I went to the dealer tape measure in hand & checked a new vehicle on the floor versus a secondhand unit on the lot.

Here - Look at these pictures carefully - I did not believe it at first but look carefully & don't let it fool your eye. A very clever bit of redesign at minimal cost - No body retooling apart from hatch at the back.

Yes the bottom plastic bumper is separate. You could change just that

It looks better than this in V6 form - 15mm lower and much larger tyres - I need to do some scanning to show you that.

Glyn,
Next time yer at a dealer, maybe take a closer look...
press the brake pedal, which light is the brake? (On the current coupe it's the top part thats deleted) Which one is turn, and which is rear light....
and maybe pop open the side compartment, snap a pic of the connector?
I wonder if it would wire up NP?

The big question is do the lights on the hatch serve any specific function not met by the tail lights? Or are they just reflectors? Do they have lights at all?

This could be interesting.

Anyone have some PS skills want to graft the CLC tails onto a current CL203 without the hatch pieces?
I like the clear part on my rear....but I think the slimmer lights with the plastic fill pieces where the brake lights are currently would help with the "baby got back" syndrome of the car.

As far as the diffuser, the thing I notice is a ridge running down the middle of the bumper that might make it hard....but thats something to look at too.

Here's the lowered 350 I promised & as you can see C230 Sport Coup - the brake lights are at the bottom & of course top centre.

Well I'm not an expert in PS, I did this in paint. The grey area would be the clear on the CL203. But this is kinda what it would look like without replacing the hatch. You could paint the clear part I suppose.
