Someone tapped her from the back

now that i have your attention

this guy tapped into the rear bumper of my car on the LIE 495 goin west towards the city on my way to work. the damage is not too bad, nothing cracked just 2 dime size paint chips and a few scuffs? we were in traffic and i slowed down like usual with a car length of car space. i guess he wasnt paying attention. i had him give me $250 cause he was a student and really didn't have much money. he got the money from the atm and i followed him i figure he had a stock mazda protege it would be a fun chase if he tried to run. lol what sucks is i was gonna have my new kumho SPTs mounted on the IV wheels to throw back on...

anyone know a good shop for paint work in Long Island or NYC? let me know

everyone have a happy and safe motoring

A lot more... if you get it done by a Mercedes body shop, you're looking at more like $600-$800... It cost me around $900 for my front bumper but im sure it was a lot of work with so many rock chips, etc.

It was nice of the guy to give you the cash, but I think I'd go for a diy cheap fix.

If it runs I'll drive it
Depending on the body shop labor rate getting your rear bumper varies upon the location. Like gasoline prices differs by area. Fine your local trusted or highly rated German body shop and get it done there. The paint and repair work is usually top tier among body shop procedure/standards. Happy hunting!

I had a hit and run episode too and it left a quarter sized indention in the rear bumper. Mercedes benz collision was asking $750 and local body shops says $500-$550.
My insurance deductible is only $250 though.

to the OP: Why not just file a claim? I dont think it will make your insurance rates higher if you file it under hit and run.

*I haven't repaired mine yet.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
I just got my wagon out of the shop last month after being tagged in the bank parking lot.

A ride on the Celette bench, a new door, bumper, fade and blend the paint.

$ 6K

Make sure you get a complete estimate.

AHH! The STUPID, useless, ugly, costs us taxpayer millions of wasted dollars NYS front plate strikes again!

There would most likely be no damage to your car if that Mazda was not sporting a front plate with large headed mounting hardware…but our good Law Makers feel that the front plate should be there…Why, I don’t know…radar, laser maybe? My dad was nudged in the back of his car a few years ago, same thing, two dimples…and we repaired and repainted it…but a huge amount of money is spent repairing these simple “hits” all of the time…

Sorry to hear that your car was hit like this…other driver should have been paying attention!

I would get it fixed and repaired; it is a Mercedes-Benz.

That sux. Happened to me when mine was only a month old. Fixed it and then two months later I hit a wild boar. But for the past 75K miles its been pretty free of road bumps.
