changed CRANK SENSOR still stalls :(

Guys
I have replaced the CRANK position sensor (pain the hands!!! ) but the car stalled when ti was hot outside and died while pulling into parking

Do you guys think it is the CAM sensor? no codes, battery and alternator are all OK

I am clueless, fuel pump? CAm sensor??

It is a C230 COUPE M111 engine

Please try & give us some more information about the car, mileage, service record. How did the problem manifest itself exactly & any warning signs.

If it's not throwing codes it could be low fuel line pressure due to pump or blocked fuel filter. I would have expected a fuel trim code running lean bank 1 - but give us some info.

How old is the filter? Put your ear on the passenger rear seat & tell us if you can hear the fuel pump running

Its a 2002 C230 125Kmiles i didnt get any codes thats why its confusing
cleaned the MAF , checked the battery and alternator at Autozone and all are good.
Thats funny, it stalled when I had the AC ON, today it was 85F out and didnt stall but the AC was off :S

But, previous week, I ran the car twice on low fuel :S

Change the fuel filter & check the pump. You might have sucked up some dirt out of your tank at that mileage from running fuel low.

Glyn, I'm not disputing your vast knowledge (nor do I wish to hijack this thread) but I've read and heard that it's a myth about the low fuel and dirt thing. It was my understanding that the fuel pump gets the fuel from the bottom of the fuel tank be the tank full or empty. So if dirt or debris happened to be in the tank, it would get sucked in no matter what.

Makes sense, no? If I'm wrong please educate me. I'm relatively new to Mercedes and I want to learn all I can about them.

Fair question & debatable. The fuel is not drawn right from the bottom of the tank. The Fuel sensors & pump canisters are inserted from the top of the two tanks & do a reasonable job of vacuuming up the fuel. It just that all tanks collect debris over time & when you run them low the %age debris to %age fuel is a lot higher which increases your chances of sucking up some muck.

Makes sense. Two tanks?

If you've gone 125K miles and never replaced the fuel filter, yeh, could be as simple as that.
I had a car that was running intermittently once when the filter got clogged.
You are supposed to replace every 60K miles FYI.

The pump is Pierburg or Bosch. You need to buy the spares from Benz - certainly for the sensor & pump modules of which there are 2. Benz recommend replacement of both. Indy shop can install - modules accessed from under back seat - two round cover plates. They are expensive - about US$ 450 for both. Indy shop can check fuel line pressure.
