I presume I understand you correctly - the key won't turn in the ignition switch? If so your EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) is not powering up the Key - Has nothing to do with key batteries - The EIS powers up the key inductively like you charge your electric toothbrush. If you have power - fully charged battery - and no fuses blown - Then this is a job for the dealer. It's expensive if the EIS needs replacement because it is the top of the pyramid to all the cars control systems. Tow it to the dealer if both keys won't work.

hmm thats interesting that you cant open doors or lock them. I think maybe the settings got messed up. It probably works like a universal remote how you have to program a remote (put in numbers) to work with certain TVs. Maybe there is a unit in the car where the key is programmed to activate the doors and start engine? Maybe that unit went bad and when you press the unlock button your key sends a signal but the unit in the car that is suppose to recieve the signal and do what you tell it to do probably got messed up.
I would think that you would need to take it to the dealer but maybe somone here knows the answer to solving the problem?

Glyn's on the money - as usual - and it sounds like he and I are reading your post the same way; it's either the key or some component of the DAS (Drive Authorization System - EIS is one of the components).
It's *very* difficult to test any piece of the DAS with StarDiag - the key is the only piece you can really test, and then only by trying your spare.
As Glyn also said, the battery in your key WILL NOT prevent it from starting your car - stops you from unlocking it, but not starting it.
If your spare key is not working, and you are confident you have eliminated the fuses and the CAR battery, I'm afraid a tow to the dealer is about the only thing I can think of.

I try to diagnoze with MB star and i can't access EZC, or i can autorize a driver or a key,
i think the problem that says "Glyn M Ruck" is the correct,
the only way is to replace all the central locking system for about 1.000 Euro,,
i dont know what to say.....
have you any idea?

ilias.i - so if I understand correctly, when you use DAS to query the EZS, you timeout or get no response from the unit?
If you are confident it's really getting power, then yeah, you are looking at a major repair. Also, if you are able to access the SN protected items (key auth), I'm assuming you are running DAS in Developer mode?

Had similar problem today. Keys would not remotely unlock doors so I had to use the emergency key to get into the car. Once inside when the key was placed in the ignition nothing happened nor could I turn it.
I lifted the bonnet, undid the negative battery terminal for around a minute and when I reattached the negative terminal everything was back to normal!!
Hope this helps.
